We've been going to Old Town every time we visit San Diego. Usually twice a year for the past 15 years. It has one of the best Mexican restaurants with great margaritas!! (Casa Guadalajara) We have never had a problem with parking. We have gone in the daytime and walked around and had fun looking in the little shops. And... more

Old Town is a great place to spend the afternoon and get some dinner. We went with 3 children. There is lots to look at and see and the kids liked walking around. I would only plan to walk around for an our or so though. The historical buildings are fascinating, but once you see them there is not much... more

We were in San Diego from July 10th until July 15th, 2008. We had purchased Go San Diego Cards for our family to utilize why we were there. One of the activities included with our card was a city sightseeing double decker bus tour. The bus tour information in our Go San Diego Card guide states that you are to... more

After reading the previous reviews we decided to take our family to Old Town last week. We had 4 children with us ages ranging from 2-16. They all had a great time for the 2-3 hours we were there. Sure there are touristy stuff happening but the historical part of it was great. We found parking to be fairly easy.... more

Visiting Old Town is a nice way to spend an afternoon. Free parking was a surprise, and so unusual. We strolled through the colourful shops in Plaza del Pasado, and then through some of the old stores in the historical area. The candy shop was yummy! Who doesn't want fresh made salt-water taffy? There are lots of shops and restaurants... more

Love that Old Town is free, and plenty of free parking as well. Nice area to spend an hour or two. Excellent Mexican restaurants w. the best guacamole I've ever tasted. Some of the shops have nothing but super tacky crap no one really needs, and some have a great, quality selection of products...but overall-Old Town is a nice stop... more

Very interesting history with haunted establishments. We even had an experience at the McCoy House. (one that was not made up by the museum). We visited the visitor's center and was GIVEN a map of the lay of the land and was told some history of the area. It's very full of history and has lots of cool things to... more

Strolling among the buildings is fine for around an hour. There is very little in the way of historical information or displays. The buildings are basically filled with souvenir shopping. Definitly not a must see if you don't have much time in San Diego more

Old Town park was tidy and clean (and free to get into), but it mostly consists of shops, (such as one with rocks/minerals and a candy shop) to purchase any variety of things. The historical sites were pretty good but not greatly interesting. In fairness we visited on a chilly very windy day which I'm sure limited our enjoyment. I... more

I've been here before. Not in San Diego, mind you, but during just about every vacation I've ever had. The shops here are just like Wisconsin Dells, Lake of the Ozarks, Niagra Falls, Gatlinburg...... well, you get the idea. There would be no reason to go again. No reason at all. It's only saving grace, though, was the historic architecture.... more
