This National Park comprises several locations. We visited two. The first was the Exhibition space on Decatur Street in NOLA. This place is right by the gumbo restaurants, cafes, daquiri bars and tat-rack shops of the French Quarter. We took the free 9am walking tour with a Park Ranger. As usual, the National Park Service does an outstanding job of presenting the history of the French Quarter in an hour and a half walking tour of the French Quarter. It is free and the park ranger is informative as you stroll down the lovely streets. Only 25 tickets are issued a day, so arrive early. more

A lovely boardwalk almost 2 miles through the various stages of a Louisiana swamp. An easy, pleasant stroll, with a good chance of spotting wildlife. We saw rabbits, egrets, and an alligator, surprisingly active for February. This is a great break from fighting the crowds in the French Quarter. more
