I enjoyed a 5 night stay at the Riu Mambo in Puerto Plata. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I was aware of the air conditioning problem so I wasn't surprised. Although the hotel had 110V outlets in the bathroom and bedroom, only 1 worked. I encountered gorgeous weather, found the food both tasty and abundant. My only surprise... more

If you've never been to Dominican Republic you should definitely go. Our family (2 adults, 2 kids ages 7 and 9) just returned from a 7 night stay at RIU Mambo and we loved it. It was so nice having access to the 3 RIU resorts. They each have their own advantages but the Mambo has the best beach by... more

My husband and I just returned from a week's stay at the Riu Mambo. Our first trip south, in 2007, was to the Mayan Riviera where we stayed at a 5 star resort. We figured we had set the bar high and nothing was going to compare to it. We were wrong!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Riu... more

My partner and I stopped at the Riu Mambo last September and found it to be one of our most memorable holidays. The check in at the hotel could not be faulted it was all very friendly and well organised. We were shown to our room which we found to be lovely and cool with the the air conditioning. There... more

First off let me say the place is very pretty. Not the most modern, but nice enough. The staff were AMAZING! Super nice! We were greeted with kindness right off the bat. No complaints there. The Animation Team were cute, a little annoying after a few days, but you know they are only doing their jobs. So that didn't bother... more

Arrival: A good 45 minute trip from the airport to the hotel, being informed about things we saw and about the city and hotel. Welcomed at the hotel with a complimentary cocktail which was much needed when your not used to the sudden climate change. Friendly people who take your bags to your room for you so you can relax.... more

My husband and I stayed here in December 2007. We had stayed at three other resorts (one was the Riu Bachata) during our visit. Because we were leaving a resort (Iberostar) that we absolutely hated, we were very happy to get to the Mambo and back to the world of friendly. We were welcomed like family by the front desk... more
