Our stay here was recommened by another couple. We thought the food was prepared very well but the the price of the drinks and meals were spendy. We didn't search out the other cafes in town to see if prices were compariable but if I stayed longer that's what I would do. We were their for only one night. Four... more

This property is in a quiet little town of Esperanza. There is not a lot to do there except drink, snorkle and relax. We stayed in an upstairs apartment (103) it had plenty of room, a bathroom (shower), a kitchen, and a sitting room. The bedroom has an airconditioning unit-which you'll need-it was a humid 90 degrees there. We also... more

tradewinds= great location, lousy service. Nearly all the expatriate inhabitants to vieques are rude. I say nearly all because some were enjoying there existence in a beautiful tiny island in the caribbean. Vieques is a perfect example of key west before becoming commercialized. However the short tempered and lousy attitude here is not great to be around. more

My husband and I spent one night here. We loved the location, and it was so nice to wake up and just go sit in the restaurant overlooking the water. Staff was courteous and helpful when it came to getting directions and finding our way. On the downside, we didn't realize just how poorly the a/c in our room was... more

The Trade Winds offers a great location in Vieques, an inviting patio/dining area, and decent (though a bit dingy) rooms. But what a disappointment the service was. The woman working the front desk was crabby and seemed nothing but annoyed when we had questions. The waitress who served us lunch was also a bit on the grouchy side, and rudely... more

Vieques is a wonderful place to wind down and recharge. It was a perfect break in our visit to Puerto Rico and I'm ready to sign up for a longer stay at Tradewinds on the next visit. The guesthouse staff were friendly and helpful - and the food was as as exceptional as the incredible view of the beach. Don't... more

Ok, I have not stayed at Trade Winds in a while, BUT on my initial visit I did and had a blast! YES I have stayed in better places and do when I come to Vieques, but from that initial visit, I come back to see my friends at Trade Winds when ever I hit this wonderful island. When I... more

For the price, this guesthouse was definitely above average. I selected it because Fodor's said it was the "best of a string of inexpensive guesthouses along the main road in Esperanza." Looking at Tradewind's website, the picture didn't do the place justice, so I was expecting a hole in the wall and was pleasantly surprised to find it located literally... more

Having enjoyed a meal or two at Tradewinds' restaurant on a previous trip to Vieques, we decided to try their accomodations on this trip. We were late getting in, owing to a delayed flight from Philadelphia and a delay on the ferry from Fajardo. Instead of getting in around 9, we arrived around 11. We called ahead to let the... more

Trade Winds is a budget accommodation. Vieques is a yet to be spoiled Caribbean Island, though the money people are trying hard to change that. Think Key West in the 50's and 60's, when you chose a place because of its superior location and when all you expected was a place to lay your head and kick back and lose... more
