The Firefly Hotel, Mustique's best kept secret, is truly unique having been built in the early seventies as a private villa and recently transformed into one of the Caribbean's most exclusive hideaways. Perched on a hill with magnificent views of the Caribbean Sea and neighboring islands it affords the most wonderful sunset scenes from all rooms including the dining terrace and bar lounge area. The bar is a favorite with guests and island residents alike. more » « less

My wife and I are 24 hours removed from our stay at the Firefly. We've traveled all over the Caribbean and this place was one of the best EVER. First of all our Hostess - Liz - was most gracious, friendly, and her attention to detail is amazing. The guys that took care of us became friends...we felt like we... more

Once again Mustique's charm wins out... My wife and I have now been going to Firefly since 2001. Firefly's offer has become better and better as the years roll on. Stan and Liz are lovely hosts and take pride in their service. The staff are great and you should rib Patrick (The head barman) about the Windies cricket team while... more

While looking for a honeymoon destination, my wife and I came across Mustique and the Firefly. After checking out their website, we decided it was the place for us. We went towards the end of August, and were somewhat hesitant about going so close to hurricane season. Fortunately, the weather was great, with occasional passing afternoon showers that lasted not... more

There were a number of things that Liz and Stan could have got right but instead they were just wrong, annoying and unacceptable at the price they were charging. There are a few issues about their attitude and approach that had we known about beforehand we would not have booked with them. We are the people described by them thus:... more

"I don't think an all 5 rating is any more use to anyone than an all 0 rating. Best intentions I presume. We stayed there for a few nights last year. A lovely part of the world. Firefly was fine. Suspect over sensitivity, recent reports might not have all the fluff but not that bad. Can't please everyone all of... more

Like other members we rely quite heavily on Trip Advisor and the honesty of reviewers to guide us when choosing a hotel. I wonder if others are slightly cautious when reviewers post only one very mean review. Particularly when, from what I can gather, most people visiting Mustique are quite well travelled. We have only visited Mustique once, but the... more

We first visited Mustique in 2005 when we married on Macaroni Beach, and that is a time that will certainly be fondly remembered for some time to come. Liz and Stan organized a fantastic time it should be said. We took over all the rooms in the Firefly, and had the Royal Palm for ourselves - and I thought the... more

I have been reading the latest posts on the Firefly and wanted to share our experience. We stayed at the Firefly last August and had a fabulous time. Liz and Stan were gracious and warm hosts. It is not often that owners of such establishments make you feel that they genuinely care and are interested in making your stay the... more

It was great to see liz's recent response and this really prompted us into writing a review rather than just keep putting off actually doing one! We booked Firefly 9 months prior to celebrate Graham's big 50 and having been to many different islands and resorts we wanted something that offered a 'boutique' feel about it. From being met at... more

We decided for our honeymoon we wanted to stay somewhere very special. I'm glad to say Firefly was more than that. First of all the two bad reviews don't reflect anything we experienced. I can't imagine Elizabeth being verbally abusive to anyone, in fact we have never been somewhere where we spent so much time with the owner. We regularly... more
