Seriously, this is the most miserable hotel i've ever had the misfortune of being staying in. The smell of urine was unbelievable. The wall light fell off when I tried to turn it on and the main light is a flourescent strip light for god's sake and there wasn't even a switch by the bed, next to which the plaster... more

The hotel is described as luxury boutique, i laugh at this, the only luxury was the toilet paper. The rooms are outdated, the decor old, and the food was obivously from the freezer. My advice would be never ever stay at this hotel. The clue to why is in the offer of all new guests stay half price, this is... more

The hotel's website was completely misleading, making it out to be a nice luxury hotel. On arrival it looked tired and shabby, and they asked for payment on arrival before showing us our room, we insisted on seeing the room first, and we were told we had been upgraded to a suite, but in fact it was a small double... more

Having read the travel advisor reviews on the advice of our son, I thought - all of this bad press could not be true? But,,,,,,,, Had the usual £160 less 50% standard deal. Booked a twin room , but given a tiny, shabby double next to the lift......probably reserved for the last guest booking in? Changed to a family room... more

On the notice board outside the hotel there is a sign saying first time customers can stay at the hotel half price. A fantastic offer you might think, but when you enter the hotel you realise that no one would ever return a second time to pay the ridiculously overblown price of £160 per night for a double room. The... more

I stayed in the bridal suite because all hotel rooms were full, paid a crazy price for it, and i must say, i was disgusted. Utter rubbish hotel, very old and squeeky, door locks are almost falling apart, couldnt sleep in the morning because of all the people walking and floors squeeking. Elevator was horrible, staff were rubbish, toilet was... more

We got married at the astor, and everything was perfect. The astor suite was beautiful for the ceremony and the reception, the food was fantastic (both 3 course meal and evening buffet), and the rooms were lovely! The bridal suite is absolutely gorgeous and myself and my bridal party very much enjoyed getting ready there, and staying there! The day... more

This hotel was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in my life. After reading the website that quotes it as 'luxury' we took a chance and booked it over the phone. When we got there I was shocked at the state of it, it's in depserate need of reburbishment, it has NOT been recently refurbished as it quotes.... more

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Astor and stayed there for two nights prior to departing on our honeymoon. I have read with interest the previous reviews of this hotel and I must disagree. The wedding suite that we stayed in was superb and none of our guests had any complaints at all with their rooms (we... more

This is a hotel that's obviously on its last legs but still trying to squeeze money out of it. The elevator barely made its way up, the lights in the hall were so dim it saved you from having to look at the shabby carpet. Our room was rather small and certainly cold, the bathroom nice and big, but the... more
