I stayed here last week for work. It is very convenient for the railway station, the university and the town centre. It is only a 5 min walk to the station. The decor is a bit tired and olf fashioned. The room itself was comfortable with a good double bed and a small sofa. It was clean, well lit, and... more

Not in a bad location for central Plymouth, but overall the place is a bit of a shambles. It’s all just tatty and old, and staffed by a bunch of unsupervised 16 year olds which seemed to mean that basically service was non existent. Everything was too much trouble it seemed. Breakfast isn’t, as described elsewhere on here ‘a wonderful... more

We chose the Copthorne for its location near the University and shops, and price (£85 incl breakfast). Not cheap but not really expensive either, so I suppose we weren't expecting great things. Room fine, large enough, clean, decor a bit dated. Breakfast OK, good amount of choice, but we had a table with no menu so didn't realise you could... more

Stayed here for business last week. We usually have an overnight stay and then have the conference at the hotel the next day. Arrived the night before and checked in to be told I had a twin room, I asked to see the booking as I know we always book doubles and I was told they couldnt find it and... more

We wouldn't go back here. Reception staff barely helpful. They didn't seem bothered that they'd given us a twin room when we'd booked a double. It seemed an inconvienience for them to look for a double for us, no apology. We did eventually get a double though. Breakfast was awful. Food was barely warm and selection was poor. There were... more

I stayed for one night on business. As someone who stays in well known chains weekly, I felt very let down by this hotel. The decor was very dated and there were marks all over the carpet, lights not working, peeling wallpaper, mould in bathroom.... I could go on. To make matters worse, I found that the hotel did not... more

One of the good things about tripadvisor is that if there are sufficient reviews for a hotel you can get a feel for a place before you visit. So having read the reviews of the Plymouth Copthorne I knew what to expect. I'm not complaining but in my view the hotel is dated and the rooms are very uninspiring. There... more

Wow, its like being back in the eighties, like Ashes to Ashes you'll love this, fetch the Quattro and join Alan Partridge in the Office heaven. Staying for one night on business, the hotel was clean and functional, however lacking in decor and anything special! If you'd not guessed from the comments above its a very tired hotel from the... more

I have stayed in this hotel about 6 times during the last three years. As has been previously reported this is a tired hotel and the rooms are very jaded and worn around the edges. Dissapointingly rooms come with single beds unlike competitors that offer the solo traveller doubles, not great if you want to stretch out. The evening meals... more
