We booked this hotel to celebrate both a 40th and a 50th Birthday, and it was a ladies treat away for the four of us. On booking directly with the hotel booking team we were advised to book the restaurants we wanted for both nights of our stay as they were popular. This we did, although on arrival they had... more

This was a lovely pretty hotel, the rooms were clean and bright. The swimming pool and spa were really nice. The staff were very helpful. The food was really good 10 out of 10 on taste but the menu didn't give you much choice and we did have one very rude waiter who gave us treacle tarte when we ordered... more

Nearly 200 rooms but limited restaurant capacity. Had to drive for half an hour on a Saturday night to get a meal. Hardly romantic, or even fun. Difficult to fault it for what it is, a reasonable business / conference hotel. However, considering how far it is from anywhere, it is poor that they can't feed their guests. Would advise... more

Booked the hotel for a leisure break weekend. This proved to be excellent value, 2 nights DBB with wine for 2 at £240 must be a bargain. The hotel was in a superb setting, with lovely gardens and arboretum. All the staff were friendly and efficient, the food was good and the bedroom adequate and comfortable. We will go back. more

Lovely location, property full of character. Furnishings are a little dated. However, staff were excellent, perhaps restaurant staff were probably a little too keen and although service was fast, it lacked a little polish, a minor niggle! Food was v.average indeed, however it wasn't bad, menu was akin to a basic pub meal. Leisure club was good. Lovely walks around... more

As with many old manor/palace style buildings, most of the rooms were in newer extensions to the original building. The main buildings and the grounds are fantastic. Our bathroom had not been cleaned after the previous occupant and left in a disgusting state. The Shower and lights stopped working too! Staff were friendly. more

My wife and I booked this hotel for one night only and were impressed with the hotel from the minute we drove through the gates. The building is superb and the surroundings are magnificent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our whole experience was just what we wanted - relaxing and stress free. Our room was much bigger... more

Stayed here to attend a business meeting nearby. Charming building with lots of character. Reception staff are polite, friendly and efficient. Being a listed building the layout of the rooms is a bit of a maze!. Listen carefully to the receptionist's directions or you WILL get lost. Room is quiet, clean and comfortable. Hotel has a decent leisure facility. Hotel... more

We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend at this hotel but unfortunately that was not what we got. The building itself is spectacular, the leisure centre is great and the staff on reception 2nd to none but that I'm affraid is where the positives end. We had lunch in the bar and my husband found a balled up piece... more

We stayed for 2 nights in a connoisseur room with our 2 children, aged 6 and 10. The room was spacious and had lovely views of the grounds, however, the childrens beds were awful. They were 2 very old camp beds with mattresses about an inch thick and combined with the old tatty blankets, looked like something out of a... more
