Before arriving at Adeplhi I was a bit concerned at where I had been booked - such is its reputation. However, it's an OK hotel. The room was large, clean with coffee and tea equipment. The beds were OK although too hard for my taste. The bathroom might be in for a refurb though. The shower handle fitting was leaking... more

Stayed here on 8th and 9th november 2008 with my 2 sons for a liverpool match. My wife had a terrible time trying to ring me in my room kept being told that there was no one in even though I texted my wife that I was in the room Each time when receptionist was told this My wife was... more

I travel a lot and this was the worst hotel I have stayed in for 20 years. The write up was fundamentally incorrect on the web site I booked on. The reception area was from another age and the reception staff obstructive for no reason. The bedroom had a missing bulb, broken tap and shower unit and, for the price... more

We were up in Liverpool attending an event in the Adelphi ballroom, so it seemed the obvious place to stay. It wasn't cheap, so we expected a reasonable standard of accommodation. The public areas of the hotel were fabulous and we had the most amazing time in the ballroom - nothing to do with the Adelphi management really. The room... more

This hotel is an amazing survivor from the era of travel by magnificent liners from Liverpool. The function rooms are massive and very impressive. None of the homogenised look of some hotels today. The staff on the desk were very friendly and helpful as were all the staff we encountered. The room was spacious with an en-suite bathroom. The bath... more

Stayed for two nights...bathroom had to be seen to be believed. Archaic bath with strange red tidemark (didn't like to guess) and no shower or attachment. Archaic sink with taps that wouldn't switch off properly so water running all night. Two shower curtains used at windows instead of blinds/curtains. Bed ok, but would have been nice to have bedside tables... more

I travel regularly for staying in hotels 3 or 4 times every month in various loactions around the UK. This hotel has to be one of the worst I have stayed in. Long ques at reception meant booking in was very slow, when got to the front of the que found staff that were rude, unhelpful and obviosly annoyed because... more

Quite simply the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I was just about to get in the shower one morning when water started coming UP the plug hole in my bath (there was no shower). Unclean and generally dirty looking. The only positive point is the staff - i wonder how they can continue to be helpful to guests... more

Initial impressions are good - art deco recepiton area, ballroom, fantastic building. Overall could do with some modernisation. Bathroom floor ingrained dirt, no shower curtain and my first trip to the bathroom resulted in a piece of broken glass embedded in my toe. Had a dripping overflow pipe outside my window - not relaxing! Double bed was comfortable and bedding... more
