The Madrid Opera Hotel in Paris was the only down side of the entire three weeks pilgrimage and study tour undertaken by a group of eighteen friends in September 2008. We could have put up with the seedy area and called it 'colourful' and, after all, it was well located for transport. The rudeness and lack of any empathy or... more

Stayed here for four nights as part of a group booked by Travelworld Carindale in Australia - it wouldn't have been my choice! Location OK if you want cheap eats, coffee shops and abundant metro stations and while the area didn't feel unsafe, the high homeless person and police ratio did take the gloss off Paris somewhat. Essentially a budget... more

We booked our accommodation via eBookers.fi and trusted their recommendation; they had marked Madrid Opera an "excellent choice". The hotel is dirty and worn down. The rooms are very small and nothing like the photos on the website. The bed was so small and old, that it was impossible for two people to sleep in it. The bed covers were... more

The Madrid is a cute little hotel. The rooms are tiny (but thats so common in Paris!) but they were clean. Its a little run down. Its quiet & restful. Our room over looked the street and we had enormous fun watching people! We didnt notice any street noise late at night. Breakfast is simple. Always cold meats, fresh bakery... more

OK, so Hotel Madrid is a little rough around the edges in the halls and bedrooms but to be honest it's like Ryanair, you get what you pay for. It's cheap ( and cheerful ). Has friendly staff working the reception with pretty decent English to counter my not so decent French. The rooms are fine if you're like me... more

I stayed at this hotel in October 2006 and I am writing a review after staying in Paris July 2007 in another location. I would not recommend this hotel due to the fact it is located in a dubious area of Paris, especially at night. Certainly not a safe area for single women or families. The location is close to... more

The location of this hotel is perfect - 1 minute away from Grand Boulevard metro station. However, it is the location that is the best thing about the hotel. The lobby area is nice but the bedrooms are not as nice as the lobby. The rooms are old, tired and a little worn BUT the sheets on the bed are... more

We checked into this Hotel for 4 nights in April, 2007. The room was an absolute disgrace. It had a closed in balcony that housed the wardrobe and safe. I am 5'10" tall and had to stoop to be able to get to the wardrobe, plus the fact come dark you could not see to operate the safe or to... more
