We booked thru hotels.com (Mistake #1). When the 4 of us got to the Silversmith they did not have a room with two beds for us. They had a choice of two VERY small rooms with one bed and a roll-a-way bed. They did not even offer for us to have both rooms. When we said this is not acceptable... more

Avoid this hotel at all costs! I booked a suite for my husband, nephew and me at this hotel in February. When I arrived on Friday, Aug. 1 at 11:00 am to check-in, I was told by the front desk clerk that they didn't have early check-in, which was fine -- or so I thought. I told the clerk that... more

The Silversmith Hotel was in my humble opinion a fantastic place to stay. The hotel offers great accommodation in a historical building right in the heart of downtown Chicago without having to pay extortionate downtown prices. We stayed in the city at the beginning of July 2008 on the way to Las Vegas. The hotel is ideally placed to explore... more

We booked two rooms for one night through Travelocity for $206 per room, including taxes. When we checked in, the hotel had reserved one room for 2 nights. Luckily, I had my comfirming email with me. They honored the reservation without question or complaint. (Thank you, Shannon.) We ended up with one suite and one regular room. Both rooms had... more

My friend and I traveled to Chicago for 4th of July weekend for the Taste of Chicago. Let me just say that the location of the hotel was outstanding. It is literally 2 blocks from Michigan Ave and Millenium Park, approx. a 5-10 min. walk from Grant Park and 1 block from State Street shopping. There's a Garrett Popcorn shop... more

We enjoyed our stay. We had a king suite. The extra room, with the sitting area was nice after a long day of walking in Chicago. Location was excellent. We rode the El in from O'hare, take the blue to green and you get off a stones throw away from the entrance. If you do take the El, there are... more

I chose this property because of its downtown loop location. I wanted to be within walking distance to The Art Institute and the Harris Theater. I was only staying in town for a couple nights and was not trying to see it all! My room was very large, well furnished, clean and quiet. In spite of it being right under... more

We stayed at the Silversmith over the week-end of Chicago Blues Festival and before embarking on Route 66. We arrived at O'Hare and at the suggestion of others on TA took the public transport option, easy access at airport, journey was swift and cheap, with just one change at Clarke and Lake, the train stopped at Madison and Wabash which... more

This was the second time my husband and I stayed at the Silversmith, and we will continue to stay here, as long as the hotels standards are maintained to the present high level, the location is wonderful and the rooms are spotless and very comfortable, and decorated in neutral tones which is very relaxing, just what is needed after a... more

If you want a downtown hotel in Chicago and not go completely broke this is probably the place for you. It is literally a block away from Millennium Park and just a few blocks down Michigan Ave. from the Magnificent Mile. My group made the mistake of booking through Expedia, so we were not guaranteed to receive the two double... more
