“Fantastic”

First of all i would just like to say take the negative reviews with a pinch of salt, as before we came to the hotel we looked at the reviews and became quite concerned. however we needn't have been it was fantastic. Thats the only way to put it.

We went as a family 2 adults and 2 children, so we had two rooms. Both of these Room were incredibley clean and very well made up. The one room was on the second floor with a very nice pool/ocean view and the other on the 3rd floor with a garden view, this room had beautiful cathedrel ceilings. The aircon was amazing and a total life saver as we had over 40 derees every day. The mini bar was stocked with 2 diet cokes 2 cokes and 2 sprites, there was also plenty of bottled water. The beds were everso comfy the only thing was the pilows were lumpy (so take a travel pillow with you)

The Restaurents were fantatsic aswell, although we never actually went to an a la carte restaurent, some friends said it was phonominal, and that the italian is a must. We ate at the buffet every night and to be fair the food was superb, we just couldnt fault it. Always beautifully presented. The only thing is they are on a weekly schedual so you get the same food twice on a 2 week holiday.

The Bars, these were also very good after you had been to the same bar a few times they get to know what you want and have it done for you with out you asking. we used the la matica bar in the evenings as it was right on the beach by the main pool. The bar tenders were always polite and very chatty. The first couple of nughts we didnt know it was there so we went to the lobby bar which is also very nice but it is quite allong way from the rooms and the restaurents. There is another bar La Conah which is by the brazilain restaurent. we used this during the day. There are others in the resort but we didnt use them.

The pools. we used the one furthest away from the buffet and our rooms as it was the quietist. this pool was lovely and had plenty of sun loungers. Dispite a previous review this pool was spotless as were all three pools. The main pool was the one with the bar, this is also where the activities were held.

The beach, this was gorgous but this was overlooked as the loungers and huts were very tightly packed in. We was not expecting this at all as when we had previously been to punta cana the beach was perfect, and you were not packed like sardines. The sea was crystal clear and nice and warm. Beware there are 2 pelicans that live on the beach and they dont mind where they dive to get their fish. one landed about 4 inches from this lady.

The Grounds, honestly they were perfect green grass neatly cut, palm trees dotted everywhere and from the rooms to the lobby is a beautiful walk through a mangrove. The wildlife is spectacular also with wild tropical birds everywhere and the family of peacocks, ducks and chickens your never far away from an animal. on your way through the mangrove at night you will hear a sound like a really deep cows mooo. This is a bull frog although we never saw one you can always hear them on your walk. The walk from the lobby to the rooms will take you about 10 mins but there is a complementary bus which runs constantly which will take you from place to place. i recommend this as when you get there you are dripping as there is no breeze up the path. Also rather shocking with the amount of trees and animals there was not alot of mosquioes around. To be honest i think the family was bitten probably 10 times between us and this was by little ants.

For Your Information this hotel is not aimed at british nor americans so it is full of Germans, French and Italians. which was probably the only thing wrong as they were rude. also if you want a beach hut you will have to get up early and put your towels on them as these people take all the huts and dont even use them, they take more down to the water line which is very annoying. We went down one morning and put our towels down and some Italian Tried to tell us that this hut was his. You Really have to stand your ground with these people. Also take plenty of sunlotion as we ran out and had to buy some there. it came to 23 dollars a bottle.

overall this hotel if fantastic and we would definaltly go back. We loved every moment and never wanted to go home

(The only one good department, which is owned private,is the diving and water-sports base)

I had 14 days “Holidays” booked over BOOKIT in Caribe Club Princess, and I would like to place this complain about the Hotel, it’s simply awful...I am working since 11 years in tourism and in resorts, and I never saw a so bad serviced hotel...I works by myself as a Entertainment Manager in a lot of Resorts,4 Star, 5 Star, 5+ stars, but this Hotel deserves not any 4 Stars, even 2 stars have to be decided really carefully......!!!! A call to the reception for a Dr. for a friend of me was ending up in 40 min. calling numbers they gave without answers and a Dr. who showed up in 1hr 45min....!!!

1. The Room:
The Hotel Rooms (Room 1335) are divided by a wooden door to the neighbour room which has at the bottom 2-3 cm free place so You can even look into the neighbour room and You can hear the smallest noise which is made by neighbours, complaining 4 times over 2 sleepless nights to the reception couldn’t make the 4 young guys in my neighbour room quiet, 3rd day a personal visit to Guest Relation Services which is very arrogant, unfriendly and not ready and able to help, could say just that if I want I can change MY room, why should I live the discomfort of change all my stuff to another room when it’s not me who is disturbing anyone during all the night until the morning 06.00???In the 3rd night of my stay in morning 05.00 I called the reception and said to them if they are not able to get quiet 4 partying guys I’ll do it myself in any way!!!Than just they sent a security guy to make them quiet... And when it was raining 2 nights during my stay there it was raining into my room from the roof!!!

2. The Restaurant, Bars, Service:
The Main Restaurant is in questions of cleanness very bad and unhygienic, cooks preparing the food are wearing very dirty shirts and the quality of food is very bad, I spend simply 14 days by eating Pasta, Pizza and Omelette cause the food variety was very poor and every day the same food...The Bars are very very dirty and the service in restaurant and the Bars are very slow cause they haven’t enough personal to serve, a order made in the beginning of lunch or dinner arrived after lunch or dinner was finished already or simply never arrived...And the service personal is very unfriendly like Your not welcome...The Staff is not speaking English at all, just the reception, and some Animators, but the service staff speaks no one word English and simple orders like a bottle of water or a coke was trying to be explained few minutes or simply came wrong drinks...

3. Transfers was excellent, no problem with that...

“A beautiful resort and a wonderful vacation”

We stayed at the CCP from July 11-18. We were a party of four-me, my husband, and two kids, ages 18 and 19. Like everyone here, I had read many reviews of many resorts before I finally made my decision. I took the bad reviews with a grain of salt after reading many good ones. Still, however, I was apprehensive about what we would find once we arrived at our destination.

The bus ride was about 35 minutes from the airport. We had booked through Apple Vacations, so our transfer was quick and easy. Our first impression was of the lobby, which was large and open. It was very clean and the desk personnel were efficient and helpful. One room was ready and one was not, so we were given the keys to both, and told the second one would be ready about 3pm. We were whisked away by cart to our building. The grounds are lush and green and immaculately kept. We never saw one piece of litter on the grounds during our entire week's stay.

Our rooms were pretty standard, but clean and comfortable. The floors of the rooms and all the buildings are tile, as are the bathroom walls. If you are looking for marble in the rooms, you wont find it. We had that when we stayed in Mexico a few years ago, but the lack of it did not impact my stay in the least.

After a quick change into our suits, we were off to the beach and the pools. Breathtaking! The beach is gorgeous, as everyone mentions. There are also three pools on the property and each is beautiful. I have no idea what one previous poster is talking about when he/she makes negative remarks about the pools. They are large, clean and just the right temperature. They are cleaned every morning and we spent at least a few hours at one of them each day.

Despite three of the four of us suffering from diarrhea and stomach cramps at least one day of our stay, I still think the food is good, well prepared and plentiful. We ate at the buffet most of the time, but also ate at the Mexican and Italian restaurants and deemed them both good. All in all, we were all satisfied with the quality and variety of food available.

One thing that did impress me was the visible presence of security guards on the property. They patrolled the beach and the grounds 24/7. We walked up and down the beach, and did not see any guards at any of the other resorts. At CCP they kept the beach vendors away from the guests, not allowing them to bother us. They were very low key when patrolling the grounds, but were a welcome presence, nonetheless.

We found the staff to be pleasant despite working long hours each day. We loved Jose at the pool bar. I dont recall seeing him force mamajuana on anyone, but it did flow freely. Drinks were absolutely not watered down. Quite the opposite, and we often had to ask the bartenders to lighten up on the rum!

We had a full week of relaxing in the sun, eating and drinking and not having a care in the world. I would absolutely recommend this resort to friends and family, and would go back again in a heartbeat.

“Overall trip was OK”

Caribe Club Princess

We were traveling in the month of July. The hotel was not bad. The beach was beautiful. The sand was nice and soft. Great for playing with sand toys. Children had a blast! The pool was also very nice. There were a couple of different pools to go swimming in. However, the food and drinks were not that great! The drinks all seemed to be made with too much heavy syrup. We have been to Riviera Maya prior to this for an all inclusive and the Riviera Maya definitely had better alcoholic drinks. The children ordered virgin strawberry daquiri's and they did not like the taste of them. A couple of times, they made strawberry daquiri's with a pina caloda mix and strawberry syrup. Also, the food was not that great in the buffet. We all received upset stomach's and diaharria while on vacation. The food in the restaurants was OK. Overall, we had a good time. However, don't be surprised if you have stomach problems.

“Great time, great trip- almost perfect...”

Caribe Club Princess

4 of 5 stars
St. Louis, MO
Jul 9, 2008
8/8 found this review helpful

Just returned from Caribe Club Princess on Sunday, June 29. We had a group of 8, twenty-somethings, and overall, it was a great trip. Short version, we would return to this resotr. Relaxing time and enough "going on" that there is always something to do.

Here is the long version:
Arrived to beuatiful lobby. Rooms weren't ready, but we were there before check-in, so that was to be expected. We headed to the buffet for lunch and then headed to the bar, then to the pool. Pools (first and third specifcally) could use some cleaning. They are not your normal swimming pool blue. That being said, a large part of that is probably the sunblock and drinks from the swim up bar. Water was a good temp, no complaints.

Beach is gorgeous! I am more of a pool person- hate sticky sand, but this is soft, smooth sand. Nice sea breeze all the time made the temps there, even in June/July very reasonable. We had heard there were lots of bugs, so we came prepared with bug spray, listerine to spray doorways, and afterbite for once you were bitten. Didn't need any of it. I think I was the only one in the group to get any bites, and I had two all week there! I would have gotten more then that at home. The constant breeze helps keep them at bay.

We upgraded to the VIP package- booked through Apple Vacations, and apparently this isn't an option for everyone. If you can upgrade, do it!! It's well worth the extra $ up front. The first night there it rained, so instead of eating at the buffet, we ordered our free 24 hour room service (part of VIP) and headed to one of the rooms. We had our robes, a big umbrella, rum, beer, and cigars in the room when we arrived. One of the four rooms was missing theirs, but it was brought up a coupe of days later. Also, two of the four rooms were missing alarm clocks- strange, but they were eventually brought back to the rooms.

We made dinner reservations for the rest of the trip. Tried the Chinese- probably the worst food on the property, I wouldn't waste a night on this one. Next night was Italian- not too great either. Mexican and Brazilian were both great. We repeated at the Brazilian restuarant as that was the one location that seemed to agree with everyone's systems the best. About that- someone (another guest) told us on arrival not to eat the eggs at breakfast. They had been there for over a week, and avoided the eggs, and hadn't had stomach problems. Most of us avoided them leaving for a very boring breakfast day after day. (think dry toast, boiled potatoes, and cut up hot dogs). Those that ate the eggs were in no worse shape then the rest, so if you like an omlet, go ahead and try it. We did the steak restaurant for our VIP dinner, and it was great. Good presentation, good service- long meal. We were there for over 2 hours, and did this the last night. Might have been better to do that during the middle of the trip, but good none the less.

Within the first 3 days of being there, we had all gotten sick. Stomach cramping, nausea, etc. We tried forever to figure out what we had all eaten in common, and the only thing we can figure was the beer! We all avoided it the rest of the week and didn't have any more significant problems. Do take you imodium from home, and lots of tums- you will need them!!! I travel frequently, and often have some minor stomach troubles, but nothing like this, and never have I seen a whole group affected. They do have a shop on site that provides this, but they are expensive- $9 toothpaste.

We did two excursions provided through our tour group. We did the Marinarium excursion- well worth it. Boat ride, snorkeling with sting rays and nurse sharks, and a booze cruise back to the bus. Good time had by all. We also did the ATV excursion. 2 in our group had been to Punta Cana in the fall, and said it was amazing. The one offered at the hotel was not the same tour. we saw a golf course, an old abandoned hotel, a rock quarry, etc. Not worth the $, and really not worth the open air bus ride with the exhaust pipe pointing in the passengar area the entire hour ride there. If you do an ATV excursion, make sure to get clarification before hand about what you will see. There is supposed to be a great one that takes you to a cave with a natural pool in it- not ours!

Last few days were spent taking advantage of our motorized watersport (1 hour boat ride) and complimentary massage on the beach. Both were great. Don't do the boat ride if you are suseptible to sea sickness, or are not a frequent boater. It's a rough ride.

We took drink containers with us with coolie cups around them to keep drinks cold. They were a big hit. We had a lot of people asking us where we got them, and even offering to buy them from us. (We found them at Walmart)- not quite a bubba keg, but perfect for what we wanted them for. Take something to put drinks in. The service at the pool bar was very slow. In fact, often, we got out and went to the beach bar b/c it was quicker. The bartender at the pool bar is constantly force feeding mamajuana shots to the guests, and he is the only one there, so forget about getting a regular drink.

On the topic of bartenders- Kelvin is awesome. He works at the 24 hour bar in the afternoons and evenings. Very attentive and friendly. The bathroom near this bar is disgusting- probably the worst on property for good reason. It's closest to the swim up bar, the snack shack, and the 24 hour bar, so it gets pretty constant use. The day we arrived, there was no toilet seat in the women's. That was replaced the next day though.

Rooms- our room was great. Since we were VIP, we were in rooms with balconies, partial pool and ocean view, vaulted ceilings, and a sunken living room. Great, and large enough for all 8 to sit and play games at night. We never had a problem with bugs in the room despite a few spills the first night- we were on the third floor. 2 of the other rooms did have very small ants. Not enough for them to complain about, and only really bothersome when food was left out. American applicances plug in with no adapters, take small bills for tips- it will greatly improve your service throughout the trip, and enjoy yourself.

The facility as a whole is beautiful. Trip was relaxing, and we are ready to plan another adventure. If you have specific questions, feel free to write.
