Let me begin by saying that I will gladly answer any private messages/questions from anyone. There were 4 of us traveling: Me, my husband, and our 2 daughters (20 & 22). We arrived July 16th and departed July 26. We also renewed our vows on the 21st.
First, I booked the trip through Resort Vacations to Go, AKA Travel Impressions, and it could not have been simpler. The agent was willing to take care of all of my requests and questions with a quick yes! Everything was handled and we had no worries, including not having to pay the $20 exit fee. We also had a representative on resort daily to assist with questions or booking excursions if we needed.
Upon arrival at the resort, we were greeted by Carol. She saw to it that we were given a cold towel (very appreciated) and a refreshing drink. Check-in was so quick and easy. We were directed to our rooms, 5007 for the girls & 5106 for us. Our bags arrived within 10 minutes.
The room: Just as lovely as the pictures. We had rum & cigars waiting for us. A lovely fruit basket arrived shortly after. As we were "honeymooners", a lovely bottle of champagne also arrived quickly. Our rooms were always impeccably cleaned, smelled wonderful, and never failed to have extra touches.
The service: Wow! Did they pamper me every single moment, no, but they always went above and beyond for us. Anything we needed or wanted was simply one phone call away. Guest services would make sure everything was quickly handled. Housekeeping always made sure we had lovely flowers. When we returned to our room after our vow renewal, the turn down maid had even gone to the extra trouble of using palm fronds & flowers to decorate the floor and spell out "happy wedding" and placed flowers on the bed. These lovely touches made everything special. Everyone was willing to do whatever to make you happy. Emilio in the lobby bar was so entertaining and wonderful. He was always a good way to end the day. Niki, Jose Q. & Luis always made sure dinner was a worry-free affair. This included the dinner for our renewal. The wedding cake was supposed to have been moved to the steak restaurant and set up for us. It was not there when we arrived and I became anxious. Jose Q. said that he was there and to have no worries. We finished our dinner and were just about ready for the still unseen cake. Jose Q. had been on the phone and then rushed out. He returned a short while later with our cake. As it turned out, it had been left at the beach restaurant and, Jose, rather than disappoint me, ran all the way there and back (with the cake!). Such wonderful people!
Food: I had no issues what so ever with the food. Between the 4 ala cartes and the 2 buffets (not to mention room service), we always had plenty to eat. The filet mignon at the steak restaurant was our favorite. The Italian restaurant had wonderful pizza and pasta choices. We only did the seafood restaurant once and had a surf & turf. The fondue restaurant was wonderful as well. We also enjoyed the Asian night at the buffet and the Dominican party on the beach (so many choices!). We only went to the neighboring resort for one meal (chose not to be around the kids). We went to the Mexican restaurant. It was okay. Perhaps we are more picky about Mexican food coming from Texas. We did the main buffet for breakfast and lunch every day and snacks at the beach buffet. We never failed to find many things that pleased each of us (at least 2 very picky eaters!). I have nothing but good things to say about the food and drinks!
Spa: We 3 girls did the mini spa for massages that were wonderful. It was $34 US for about 30 minutes and well worth it. One daughter also had her hair braided there for about $80 US. We did not use the main spa so I can't speak about that but the mini spa was great!
Excursions: My husband and youngest daughter did the zipline tour with the Bavorro Runners. They completely enjoyed themselves. My husband came back so jazzed! My oldest daughter and I did the parasailing with the company right there on the resort's beach. The parasailing itself was incredible but the boat ride was not so great. I do get a little sea sick but I am usually able to control it. However, they kept us on the boat for a very long time for no reason. Boats came to put more people on but would leave empty. We were on the boat for over an hour after we did the parasail. I regret that I did get sick. They finally called for a boat but instead of taking us to our beach first, they went to the other end and began dropping people off. We were to be last but as I could not take any more, we got off and walked the rest of the way. So bottom line, loved the parasailing but if you have a tendency to get sick in rougher waters, make sure you get their word to let you off as soon as possible!
Grounds: So well kept and absolutely beautiful. They are constantly taking care of the grounds and pool. Who could ask for more!
Vow Renewal: We had our ceremony on the beach. They thought of everything from decorating the cart to drive us to making a decorative aisle on the beach for me to walk down. Everything was provided for and we were treated like royalty. Francelia, the wedding coordinator, was fully prepared for our arrival and took care of everything for us. I would definitely suggest them for anyone wanting to renew or even have their wedding.
Shopping: There are many shops on the beach for shopping. As you come onto the beach from the resort, if you begin walking to your left down the beach, you will encounter the beach shops after about a 10 minute walk. Stay by the water to avoid the timeshare guys and even the shop sellers if you are not shopping. Do not be afraid to negotiate the price. You should never pay more than 50% of the original asking price and you can get it even cheaper. Simply be polite and friendly and stick to your pricing.
Airport: Upon arrival, we had no problems getting our luggage. Be prepared that plenty of people will be more than ready to take your luggage for you. There's no problem with this except it is just right around the corner. As soon as we turned the corner, our representative was waiting for us and immediately got us into the van with AC and loaded our luggage. Upon departure, the line was not bad and moved quickly enough to get checked in. There were two more lines (customs & security), both of which moved quickly enough. There are places to eat right after that, including a Wendy's. This part of the airport is open-air and can be rather hot. If you move over to the other part where the gates are, you will find AC, snacks, ice cream, bar & shops as well. Definitely more comfortable.
Overall: I would highly recommend this resort. Is it for families? No, this is an adult only resort. We enjoyed this aspect quite a bit. The rooms, service, food, people, and grounds were all that we expected and more! Everything is geared to insuring you have a good time from the beach/pool beds to the people always waiting on you. You can book a trip to the Punta Cana Princess and rest assured that you will have a wonderful trip!
