“Coyaba was wonderful”

My mom and I stayed at the Coyaba for a week. We were looking for a low-key, restful place and we definitely got that. With 50 rooms, the Coyaba is just the right size for low-key. The pool and beach are both pretty small, as is the gym. The food was great. Everyone should definitely take advantage of the complimentary 4 p.m. tea and various pastries hour. The other great thing about the Coyaba is the staff. They were incredibly responsive. We booked a room w/ 2 double-beds and when we arrived they had one w/ only 1 king bed. When we mentioned our booking, they immediately switched us and upgraded us to a beach-view from a garden view. The food etc. isn't cheap and my mom was a little put out by the fact that we always got different bills from the bar and food (with two people to tip), but ultimately what you'd expect from a resort like the Coyaba. A few of the restaurants in town give you free transportation- which is good since you probably want to "break out of the compound," every once in a while.

“Loved Coyaba!”

Coyaba Beach Resort

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Coyaba! This vacation was our first "adult" getaway since the birth of our daughter, and worth every penny. We came home relaxed and refreshed!

The property is very close to the airport, which is wonderful after you have traveled all day. (Other reviews mention airplane noise, but honestly it was very minimal and we didn't even notice it after the first couple of times.) Our hotel shuttle was waiting for us at the airport, and we were greeted with rum punch and cold towels upon our arrival at Coyaba.

Our room was beautiful. High ceilings, comfy bed, and a balcony with a great view of the ocean. Housekeeping was excellent. The beach and property are small-ish, but very private & clean. We had no trouble finding chairs on the beach or near the pool.

The food was delicious! I loved the rum toast. We tried all of the restaurants, and enjoyed the food at all three. We had some service issues at the Polo Grounds, but our concerns were met with a complimentary bottle of wine, so it's all good.

What made Coyaba stand out from other places we have stayed is the high level of customer service. The employees are helpful and accomodating, and many knew us by first name after a couple of days.

If you are looking for a wild party scene, Coyaba is not for you. Also, if you are looking to vacation with little ones, you will probably do better at a big family resort. We really enjoyed the adult atmosphere - we didn't want to be surrounded by little kids. If you are looking for a peaceful, tranquil getaway, go to Coyaba!

“Coyaba in Montego Bay - Simply the Best!”

Coyaba Beach Resort

Jun 26, 2008

I have just returned from the fabulous Coyaba Beach and Resort with my cousins. I've had the best vacation in a long time. The attentive staff were extremely polite and friendly. Matter of fact, my cousins stayed at this hotel in Novemver 2007, and the staff remembered them and welcomed them back! Everything about this hotel was 100% and I highly recommend this property to everyone.

The food was outstanding as was the service of each and every staff member. I commend the management for such their outstanding staff and I look forward to returning.

They have a beautiful beach and pool facilities; lovely poolside bar and restaurant, colorful restaurant and indoor bar.

Their rooms are tastefully appointed, with all the amenities. What else can I say but...ya'll have to experience this property to fully understand what I am trying to explain!

Kudos, Coyaba...I intend to be a repeat visitor!

“Small, Friendly, and Relaxing”

Coyaba Beach Resort

Jun 19, 2008

We wanted to stay in Montego Bay instead of in Negril on this, our fourth trip to Jamaica in the last 5 years, because we were planning only a 4 day stay and didn't want to waste any beach time driving once we landed. We chose Coyaba based on the reviews in Trip Advisor. Overall, we were very pleased with our choice. I happen to like traditional decor, and found the interior design much to my liking. It had an English flair, and after all, Jamaica was an English colony for many years, so the ambiance was in keeping with the area. The color schemes were very tasteful. The room adjacent to the bar near the pool was done in brown and blue and appeared to be decorated with new furniture. It was very attractive. We had a beachfront deluxe room with a nice view, and it was spacious, clean, and quiet.
The lounge chairs on the beach were comfortable, more so than most of the ones we have encountered in the past few years at other resorts. They seem to be all the same lately. Is there only one brand now? The water is warm, but quite shallow. The bottom is kind of slimy on your feet. It appears to be a manmade beach surrounded by swampy land on each side. The sand is nice though.
The breakfast was very good, and the lunch and dinner fairly good. I have had better food elsewhere, to tell the truth. The personnel were very polite and friendly, but it takes a long time to get the food. Some of the waitstaff, though very obliging, were not particularly competent. The all inclusive, which we decided to take, was quite high. If you play tennis, be sure to take your own racket along. I left mine on the airport van by mistake, and boy, was I sorry. They have a lot of rackets, and they are all bad. The desk personnel were very helpful in recommending and calling a doctor's office for me when I needed an appointment. There is really nothing to do at the hotel except to relax and enjoy the beach. Of course, you can take some sightseeing trips and go into town for a change of scenery.
