“Wonderful Decompression”

Jamaica Inn

5 of 5 stars
Washington DC
Nov 20, 2008

I heartily endorse the glowing reviews of the Jamaica Inn. As another visitor in November, we enjoyed the company of one of the two owners. The location is wonderful, beautiful uncrowded beach with lots of room between guests under thatched umbrellas. The beach was bigger than most at much larger resorts I have visited--Ritz, Four Seasons, etc. The rooms are classic, no frills, with charming verandas and balconies with upholstered furniture. There are no TVs or radios or inroom internet access. But then, why go to such a beautiful location to stay in your room. In addition to the beach, the food was a high point--not low end British food as another guest has written. An admitted foodie, I enjoyed dinner every night, the beach barbeque in particular. As the owner commented to us, the Jamaica Inn is not for everyone. But, if you want a wonderful beach, relaxation, decompression, good food and time to reflect and enjoy other persons' company, this is the place.

“Our search is over, Jamaica Inn wins hands down”

Let me begin by saying that Jamaica Inn far exceeded our expectations and I am thrilled to have found it. We travel to Jamaica on a regular basis and have stayed at the following resorts; Couples Ocho Rios, Couples Sans Souci, Grand Lido Braco, Grand Lido, Negril, Couples, Negril, Couples Swept Away, Negril, The
Ritz, and Tensing Pen in the west end of Negril. We were looking for great accomodations, wonderful food, and the most beautiful sunset and beach views. We found these things and more at Jamaica Inn. We were greeted daily by name, indulged with wonderful massages in the spa, given the best personal customer service of any of the above mentioned resorts. The owner was on site and extremely available and friendly. The property manager arranged for a wonderful birthday cake brought to our table at dinner for my husband and the entire resort sang Happy Birthday with the band. The afternoon tea was delightful, as was the evening cocktail hour prior to dinner each night. I cannot close without mentioning the band. We looked forward every night to hearing the soothing sounds of the local band that Jamaica Inn used during our stay. We felt as though for one week, our stressful lives were transformed into a relaxing, personable, absolutely incredible vacation. We will be returning to Jamaica Inn as soon as physically possible. We have found our favorite place in Jamaica. Thank you, Jamaica Inn.
Sincerely,
Dr. and Mrs. Jason Davis

“Mostly excellent”

Pluses: Beautiful hotel with an elegant colonial feeling; peaceful location; rooms with a huge outdoor sitting-room with a view over the beach where breakfast is served; long sandy beach completely private; good service; spacious grounds with luxurious tropical vegetation.

Minuses: Cheesy "faux romantic" dinner-dances with a syrupy band playing elevator music (in the land of reggae I'm surprised the hotel managed even to find such a bad band!) - extremely annoying because the music is heard all over the hotel so if you want to go to sleep before midnight it's extremely difficult. This is the worst part of staying at the Jamiaca Inn and I don't think we'd go back again just because of this. It really does take away a lot from what otherwise is a wonderful hotel. The other minus is the food in the evening. Clear English influences (from the low end of English cuisine unfortunately) pretentious and extremely overpriced.

“Absolute heaven”

This is the by far the best place to stay in Jamaica in my opinion.

The rooms are out of this world......

The balconys have outdoor living rooms which have sofas, chairs, fridge
and coffee table...complete with a standard lamp!!!

They had not long since done a refurbishment and upgraded the bathrooms when i was there which they had done a brilliant job of.

I had a chance to view all room catagorys and suites and i must say they were faultless in everyway.

Food was outstading and can be served direct to your balcony/terrace if you prefer to dine alone.

The Beach is wonderfull....very very private and calm and clear.

The service from all staff was second to none....from barmen to cleaning staff

I will be returning to this hotel......its stunning!

“Best Vacation Ever”

Jamaica Inn

We have travelled the world and have stayed at many 5 star hotels but this is probably one of the best vacations we have ever had and I rarely say this but I am looking forward to going back soon. When we first arrived I was very skeptical. Our first night was actually not so great. I had chosen to stay at blue cottage the first night and the other two in the deluxe veranda suites. Do not stay in the blue cottage. Bad location and no privacy. The second day we stayed in a private veranda room along the water. It was so romantic and private. Def pick this over the veranda on the beach. After getting a private tour of all the cottages which are breathtaking we decided to treat ourselves to cottage #4 our last day at Jamaica Inn. It was so worth it. Words can not describe the beauty of the rooms. The service at the hotel was the best I have ever seen. They were at our service day and night. The spa experience was amazing as well. Make sure to get a massage from the manager of the spa she has some serious skills. Every night the chef would create a unique delicious meal for the guests. The beach and water were great too. Note there are no tv's at this hotel and the pool is very tiny.
