My wife and two sons and their ladyfriends visited GLN July 22--31.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers free personal trainers, free group exercise, free yoga class, scuba diving, snorkeling and a host of good restaurants.

The new GM Roberto Pellicia has really got the staff "guest oriented." He speaks of upgrades the hotel is working on. This is going to become the destination of Jamaica for those who want great service with a Jamaican touch.

While there are some mega hotels being built I really like the touch of Jamaica you get at this size hotel. That is why I love Jamaica, the people. With a thousand rooms you never feel the island. With Grand Lido Negril you do.

We all 6 enjoyed it totally.

“I love Negril!”

Upon arriving at Grand Lido Negril, my family and I were greeted with cool towels and champagne while our reservatoins were checked. After about 10 minutes we were escorted to our rooms. Two of the three rooms were on the clothing optional side, while the room I shared with my boyfriend was on the "prude" side as requested.

There are a couple differences on the nude side. First, apparently jerk chicken is grilled out by the pool each day and musicians show up in the afternoon for relaxing reggae beats. Anyone can visit the nude beach and the nude pool and we did not feel uninvited despite having a prude room.

The picture I'm sending is from my back porch. This is the best back yard in the entire world!! I loved the room so much because 1.) Very European...classy with rose chandelier and clean furniture that was also old style European. 2.)My room had internet access which was great. 3.) The a/c worked VERY well! 4.) Our room was cleaned everyday and someone came by to restock our mini fridge with beer and soda's. 5.) Room service was NOT slow and was the quickest way to eat during a busy day of doing nothing in Jamaica.

With all the eating going on, I'm grateful they have a decent workout facility. I did cardio a couple times. There are two workout areas right next to one another. One has cardio machines (I think two ellipticals, step machine, couple treadmills) and the room has a few flat screens and overall was very clean. Also, there was a personal trainer there to talk to. The weight machines are in the second room. Later during my stay I took a yoga class in the afternoon. I am very very happy this is available to guests and these activities improved my stay (and my belly!!).

The staff at this resort is phenomenal. I felt I could trust the staff members from the Watersports staff to House keeping. Everyone just wanted to make sure I was loving everything about everything!

I really like the food. The buffets have healthy and not-so healthy options. Either way I chose the outcome was a great meal. My boyfriend and I are "casual" eaters so we do a lot of the 24 hour room service and Treetop grill (also 24 hours). My favorite restaurant is Munasan-it's the hibachi grill. This is so good! I recommend the swordfish.

One day I learned how to wind surf. This was super fun!! Another day we left the island for an ATV tour. We took the glass bottom boat ride. I wish I had snorkled but with ALL the activities the resort has to offer we had to find some time to relax and do nothing but enjoy the warm weather, the pools (which are very well maintained!), the hot tubs (probably 8 of them around the resort-also very clean), sunsets, great food. The laundry service (also included!) was very helpful and really sets this resort apart. Never once did we have any issue or complaint about any single staff member. Their level of service is great!

Grand Lido Negril has become my home away from home. My favorite part is the lush garden of exotic plant life. I could almost reach up and grab the stars they are so bright at night in Negril. I enjoy the quiet nights when the older guests are in bed preparing for the activities the resort staff have in store for the next day. This resort is quiet at night, away from the busy urban nightlife.

The beach...both beaches (nude and prude) are very smooth. I love this beach! The water is calm (making wind surfing a little easier) and clear. Every morning the beach is raked so there isn't a lot of seaweed.

I loved this experience. I felt safe and relaxed the entire time. The thought of staying someplace else makes me miss Grand Lido Negril. If this isn't the best resort in Jamaica then it must be the best resort in Negril.

“All and all...not bad”

Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa

Me and my girlfriend decided to make Grand Lido Negril our first vacation together. We chose it because of the tremendous discount I get through my job with Superclubs, and it looked like from the website and pictures to be what we wanted. For the most part it, it was. I'll try to keep my negative feelings toward the airline separate from my review of the resort, but the 1 1/2 hour bus ride (if you're lucky) from the airport should be noted also. Like others on here, we were also greeted with wet towels and Mimosa's (nice start). They took care of getting us settled in our room right away, problem was it wasn't the room we had paid extra for. We were supposed to be "beachfront", but we wound up with more of an oceanview room. My girlfriend didn't have a problem with it at first, but when we got the room we were supposed to get, she agreed it was better. She also liked that we were on the second floor for fear of bugs in the room, which we read a lot of reviews stating, but had no problem with that. The room was nice, but the concrete walls and tiled floors to me made it seem cold, like a cave. It didn't help that all the lamps/lights in the room all had a fluorescent bulb in them. Not exactly the cozy feeling you want, we actually had to go buy candles and use them instead because it was bothering me so much. The bathroom is new, but poorly designed (watch your step getting out of the tub). The grounds of the resort I have to say are very nice, especially well maintained in the garden area. Definitely could use a little update on the modern side though, at least some paint and a little cement work. Now the beach area has a lot of issues. The beach chairs work fine, but the cushions they use are disgusting. They leave them out in the rain so the mold buildup and beating from the sun they take had me complaining constantly. Everyday we had to get 6 clean (if you want to call them that) towels, 2 for each chair and 2 for ourselves, even more annoying after it rains to do it again. I was also expecting a nice beach service were somebody is always coming around offering drinks, well the guy showed up every now and then, usually after I already went and got something from the bar myself. They do rake the beach every night which is nice, but they had some guy removing the seaweed every day in the same spot while the rest of the beach had a 2 foot layer right where the water started. Made no sense to me. Could have used like a little table with the chairs to put your stuff/drink on, would have been nice. They should pay a little more attention to the beach area in the future. The food and restaurants were very good. Very weird to just walk away from the table when we were done. The service and people were pretty much excellent, very friendly and attentive. We wound up spending another $350.00 on extras like jet-skiing, horseback riding, and Mayfield Falls. I would not suggest Mayfield Falls for anyone under 40, gets a little rough. Word to the wise if you didn't already know, do not buy anything from the gift shop, you'll find everything and more at half the price in the airport, including the liquor which I was stupid enough to put in my carry on and have thrown away in front of my face. Well the airline will get its own review, and trust me it won't be as nice as this. Overall we had a great time and made the best of any little issue we came across, but we will probably try another place next time for the price.

A beautiful hotel, on a great beach. The staff was outstanding, the food, entertainment, and activities were first class, and exceeded our expectations. We are planning another trip to the hotel next year.
