My family (husband, 13 year old and 18 year old daughters) stayed at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort in Puerto Rico for a week (8/08) and loved this place. The grounds are beautiful, the landscape is maintained meticulously, the pools are comfortable and clean and the hotel is beautiful and easy to navigate. We stayed on the 4th floor and never had to wait for more than one minute for the elevator, at any time. The staff were always helpful and pleasant. The water aerobics instructor, Anna, was great and she got the pool hopping every day at 1. The hotel is right on a beautiful beach and my husband and I really loved walking in the morning on the serene sands. There is a river not too far off, that flows into the ocean, with water from the rain forest and we saw a sea turtle in that area. The rooms were kept clean, the beds were very comfortable and the views were great. There is really little to complain about except the food is very expensive, nothing to "write home about" and there is no entertainment for teens at night. But they pretty much found other teens and hung around the pool and hotel lobbies. During the day the loved they water volley ball in the pool. My older one took a surfing lesson and loved it, although the waves are very mild, it was good for a beginner. We went to Loquillo beach, which is beautiful, no waves at all. We also did the bio lumeniscent bay kayack tour at night. I thought it was great. The surrounding neighborhoods are poor and you need a car (we rented a car) or the hotel provides for fee transportation to attractions. Go to El Yunque, the rain forest, it's spectacular. You will be tired afterward from the hike to the waterfalls and can then relax in the pool and on the beach. I highly recommend this resort and will likely look into other Wynhdam Resorts for future travel. Enjoy!
