Casa Alta Vista was a very affordable place to pretty much sleep. The rooms are small, and contain only the absolute necessities, but that was not a big deal to us, as we were only there to sleep and shower. We stayed in room 9. We didnt have any problems with the room at all, except for small flying bugs that would follow you inside the door. It's great having the store downstairs, we constantly stocked up on drinks and snacks to take to the beach. It was really convenient, especially since the green store was about a 15-20 minute walk away. We also rented snorkeling gear and some beach towels for about 10 bucks. It's a short walk to the malecon(about 5 min), which was a pretty safe walk. I always was paranoid at night tho, the streets were kind of dark and the people drive a little crazy. The staff was really nice :-) There are no food places directly next to the place, you will have to walk to the malecon or drive to different places. We couldn't find a car to rent, but it worked out well for us. We walked everywhere and had an amazing time snorkeling by the pier and at Cayo Afuera. Sombe was a beautiful beach with only a handful of people around. A great place to get a drink and enjoy the music is on the malecon, I think it was called La Nasa or something like that. The drinks are pretty cheap and they play great salsa music, they have a little deck that overlooks the water. We loved hanging out at Duffy's the locals are so nice :-) We had a great dinner at El Quenepo also. Banana's pina coladas are yummy too!!
