This hotel wasn’t too bad. We stayed there four nights in March 2008. The best thing was that it was quiet and just a short, pleasant walk to the malecon area of Esperanza. For this reason, it’s probably better than the guesthouses right on the malecon, which I think would be rather noisy. There was a small refrigerator in the room, and the hotel has a convenience store right downstairs where you can purchase drinks and snacks. The young woman who handled check-in and ran the store seemed nice and helpful. Also, the room price was fairly moderate by Vieques standards. However, the room was small, dark, and cramped. This is a place that you just want to use for sleeping, not hanging out during the day. There was a semi-private balcony that was good for drying our snorkeling gear and towels, but it looked out directly on a partially constructed house next door. The rooms on the top floor above us (we were in room #3) might have a better view and are probably preferable. The air conditioning was adequate, and the room seemed clean, although in the dark light it was hard to tell. The shower was big, but there was never any hot water for any of my showers. The water came out slightly tepid, so you could stand it. My friend did manage to get one hot shower one afternoon, so hot water does apparently exist on sporadic occasions. In summary, this hotel is probably adequate for one or two night stay and may be a reasonable value by Vieques standards, but if you are staying longer, you may want a little nicer place.
