We have been diving for over ten years, mostly in the Carribean. On the Brac, after an initial disappointing experience with one of the dive operations several years ago, we have usually just done shore diving. In March, 2008 we went back to the Brac for our third visit and had the best week of diving in our experience. A big piece of this was our accidental discovery of Indepth and 2 days of absolutely spectacular diving with them.
Indepth is relatively new to Cayman Brac, but the owner, Craig, is a very experienced and knowledgeable veteran of Cayman Brac diving. His dive boat is large (40 foot sportfisher), comfortable, and well shaded. Water entry and egress are by stern platform and ladder. There is warm fresh water for a post dive shower. He is so committed to Nitrox diving that he does not charge extra for Nitrox. His dive masters are capable and friendly. I think they would be very helpful in supporting divers newer to the sport.
Craig's philosophy is that you will have the best experience at sites where he prefers to dive. He took us to dive sites that he personally likes and are not necessarily on the usual maps of the Brac. We managed a divie off the south shore due to rare favorable surface conditions. For that dive, one of his dive masters, off duty that day, came along, because it's a site she particularly likes and rarely gets to dive. If you press him, he would probably agree to take you over to Bloody Bay wall on Little Cayman. Don't do it!! The places he took us off the Brac were at least as good, usually better, than anything we saw on Little Cayman diving with Conch Divers (also a very good operation).
Diving with Indepth is particularly enjoyable for experienced divers because they don't impose arbitrary restrictions on the duration of the dive, and they don't bring up the group when the first person reaches the end-of-dive tank pressure limit. They allow you and your buddy to use the maximum bottom time permitted by your computer dive profile or your air consumption. Although their dive masters are available on the bottom and are glad to show you interesting creatures, they are perfectly happy to let you do your own dive without intrusion.
Although Craig charges more per dive than other Brac operators, there are unanticipated side benefits in addition to free Nitrox. He generously let us use tanks, buoys and weights for shore diving at no additional charge.. When one of us broke the strap attachment on her fin, he loaned her a spare set - no charge.
Based on this trip, the next time we go to the Brac, we shall do less shore diving and will spend a lot more time with Indepth.
