“Great Family Vacation - Truly Five Stars Hotel”

Spent 4 night and five days at this amazing hotel. There are not enough words to complement this hotel and its staff, they are simply incredible. Had 2 rooms at Club Level, nice variety of food five times a day, attentive concierge and staff and good size comfortable rooms. Rooms at this level are not cheap, but is moeny well spent if you have your meals here.

I would simply recommend this hotel to families with children who want to have a memorable vacation.

Im a very pleased guest and will surely return to this same location next time in Cancun.

“They are #1 for a good reason”

Ritz-Carlton Cancun

This hotel has got to be the best in all of Mexico.

You are treated like an old friend when you enter the property. They go out of their way to Thank repeat guests. I was sent a Welcome Home card from the Hotel Staff. In all my travels this is the first one to have goodies and a Thank you card waiting in my room.

We enjoyed our time at the Ritz. As you can see from all the other TA posters it's truly their pleasure to serve you.

We ate all our meals at the hotel. We had the re-connect package and we used every dime of the 100@day credit. It's nice to be able just to sit around the pool all day and order whatever you'd like and never have to get up. And the buffet breakfast was to die for. Everyday we were greeted by the restaurant staff and taken right out to the outside dining patio. They remember everything you'd like to drink and bring right over. And I loved the fact whenever you picked up the phone and called about anything you were greeted by name. That is just one of the many personal touches of the Ritz. Turn down service is wonderful. And all the bath products are very nice. And the view from our room (6008) were fantastic.

There were many children while we were there. And I have to say they were all pretty well behaved. We actually enjoyed watching the kids play in the pool and flirt with all the babies. One family there from Texas had the cutest little kids and we looked forward to seeing them everyday at breakfast.

Do yourself a favor and stay at the Ritz in Cancun. You won't stay anywhere else again. The staff were wonderful. Every single employee we talked to were so nice. And in a very sincere way. I hope the Ritz Carlton Corp. realize what a great staff they have there in Cancun.

We are already planning our next trip back.

“Worth the money”

We stayed here for two nights at the end of a three week holiday and loved it.

While Cancun is not to our taste (we prefer the quieter Riveria Maya) the Ritz was a great hotel to stay in. We had an ocean view room and had amazing views of the pool and the beach.

We were able to enjoy both for one day before Tropical Storm Dolly hit and we were then able to watch it all from our balcony.
Since the rooms are so nice at the Ritz we were able to enjoy our holiday despite it being rainy and windy weather outside.

The hotel's very well equipped gym and spa also helped in this respect.

The hotel's beach is erroded but there is plenty of room for lounging around by the pool, where you can still listen to the waves crash on the beach.

While we found the hotel food to be pricey, the portions were huge and the food was good. However, we were disappointed with the choice, which was basically just US-style burgers and chips.

If you must go to Cancun then this is the best hotel you can stay in by far.

“Excellent Service”

Ritz-Carlton Cancun

4 of 5 stars
Lafayette, Louisiana

Just returned from 4 nights at the Ritz Carlton, in an ocean front suite. Probably one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. We were in Room 3021, which was the perfect location overlooking the ocean and the pool area, with a very wide balcony. It was also located on the corner, so we didn't have any neighbors on one side. Plus the 1 1/2 bathrooms was great.
I cannot say enough about the staff at this property. They not only meet every need, but anticipate what your needs will be. They remember your name and always have nice things to say.
We ate at one of the private casitas on Friday night. Very lovely experience.
Our only complaint was the food....it was just o.k. A big part of our vacations is the food, so this is important to us. The breakfast buffet was good, and to be fair we did not eat at the Club Grill nor Fantinos.
If you're looking to get away from children, don't come to this property. I have heard the Ritz is great to families, and it must be so, as there were a bunch of children there. (and we have 6 kids, so we like them, but just be forewarned ;)
The pool was nice, and they bring you cold, scented, rolled up cloths to refresh yourself with during the day. Nice touch.
We enjoyed the spa also, which I thought was nice. My boyfriend did the 80 minute aromatherapy massage, but he thought that was a little long (you have a choice of 50 min. or 80 min.)
I enjoyed the Golden Bath Elixir. My spa therapist brought me dried fruit, nuts while I was sitting in the outdoor bath, watching the ocean. How decadent!
Overall, we would recommend this property for anyone looking for relaxation, and superb staff. Yes, it's pricey, but some things were worth the extra expense.

“Lovely hotel but too formal”

Ritz-Carlton Cancun

4 of 5 stars

My girlfriend and myself (both thirty-something) spent 4 fabulous nights in an Ocean-front room at the Ritz. On arrival, we were impressed with the class of the hotel, the great service & the spacious and tasteful room. The view of the sea from the room is so fantastic through the large balcony doors that you should definitely upgrade from an ‘ocean-view’ room to an ‘ocean front’ room. The pool area is lovely and relaxing with lounge chairs by both the pool and beach. The pool is great as you’d expect and is also open at night for a fabulous late-night swim / Jacuzzi. While the beach is great too, it is worth noting that sandbags are visible on the beach to protect the sand and there is some concrete foundation under the sand which you will feel on certain sections. The sea by the Ritz is also rougher/wavier than at other hotels and possibly not suitable for children.

And now to describe what didn’t quite work for us which is harder to put into words. Although the service is excellent, the Ritz felt too formal and over the top for us -- it was actually a little hard to relax there. And the restaurants have a ‘Michelin-star’ quality about them with very elaborate dishes served by numerous waiters & table visits by attentive floor managers & the chef. You have to leave the hotel to have a more low-key chilled-out meal. Finally, every item is added to your bill including bottled water in the rooms which would be complimentary in most 3 star hotels around the world. The Ritz doesn’t even include airport-hotel transfers. All-in-all, it’s expensive and not particularly good value for money.

We also spent 4 nights in the ‘Riu Palace Las Americas’ in Cancun (based on its very high rating in tripadvisor) for a bit of variety during our vacation. Here is our comparison:
- Rooms: The rooms at the Riu and Ritz were both fabulous. The view from the ocean-front room in the Ritz (room 6009) was outstanding.
- Pools: The Riu had 2 outstanding pools with pool-side bars, occasional pool volleyball and poolside music in the afternoon near the livelier pool. The Ritz pool was a little smaller but was very peaceful (no music or hotel entertainment) and still top class. The Ritz was open for late night swims which are fantastic.
- Beach: The Riu beach was calmer, more fun & better for swimming. The Ritz beach was exposed with lots of waves and sandbags to protect the sand -- still a v nice beach.
- Bars: The Riu bar was a little ‘dated’ looking but had a good crowd, good atmosphere and was free. The Ritz bar was empty, dull and very pricey.
- Restaurants: The 5 Riu restaurants ranged from average to fantastic, although admittedly not in the league of the 3 ‘almost Michelin-star’ quality restaurants in the Ritz. Breakfast buffet at the Ritz was very nice but the Riu buffet was incredible. The Riu lunch buffet was also very good.
- Value for money: The ‘all inclusive’ Riu was incredibly good value for money while the Ritz was quite the opposite.

So while the Ritz was lovely & it’s hard to say anything bad it, it was a little too formal for our liking with over the top service and not a great deal of atmosphere. Ideal for some but not for us…
