If you are travelling with Thomas Cook beware!!!! We were told how fantastic this hotel was and it was more like a 5 star. I would not even give it 2 stars. There are 2 blocks to this hotel and the Thomas Cook customers get the run down block and Americans/Canadians seem to get the nicer of the 2. Food in buffet horrible, rooms damp, rust round the bath! Damp and Dull. NO UMBERELLAS TO SHADE YOU FROM THE SUN so if you have young children beware. The sunbeds are filthy. We lasted one day and payed to be transfered to Grand Serenis hotel in River Maya which was just perfect! Never ever would I step into this hotel even if someone payed for my trip, the whole place needs to be knocked down and completely rebuilt!!
We had checked this hotel on the Web and thought it looked fabulous, but the pictures were nothing like the real thing!!! We felt the hotel should put some pictures of the real rooms rather than the ones they have for timeshare customers!!

Before going on this trip we read a lot of reveiws about the CPC in Cancun. Half of the reviews were poor and the other half were great. My wife and i gave it a chance any way and off we went. On arriving the friendly porter ran over, grabbed our bags and gave me and my wife a drink. We were checked in and brought to our room. Our first impressions were very good as the place was spotless clean and well decorated. Room was nice although we were staying in the old tower. There are two towers , one new and one old. I assume the new tower is probably nicer but ours was fine.
Pools at the hotel where great and we ate in Waynes Boots, our favourite, The mexican one and the buffet. We are plain eaters so we didnt go to the fish one or the french one. The buffet place as great as was the mexican however the thr italian was rotten. Worst italian ever. The japanese was nice and someone told me the sushi was very good. The staff at the hotel were great. Waiters, cleaners, chefs, entertainers all very good. However the barmen can be a bit snaughtery. We felt the barmen in CPC had an attitude problem.
Excursions and things to do thats not included in your package can be quite expensive so be prepared to pay about $100 everytime you want to something really good and about $70 for smaller things. Everybody in Mexico wants a tip. They have tip baskets in the shops. its crazy so make sure and have plenty of change or you could be caught out.
Take the bus up and down the strip. Its very cheap and reliable. Go and see coco the monkey just outside aqau world. She is wonderful and you get your picture taken for $11 plus as many pics with your own camera. Enjoy Cancun its really nice. The pool boys who organise the games are great craic.

There are always good and bad parts of vacations, but we were disappointed with the "renovations" after Hurricane Wilma. We are timeshare owners, and this is our 3rd visit there over the past 8 years. The new beds were hard, pillows tiny, and the stink of sewer smells from the toilets is unacceptable. (they appear to recycle the rainwater into the toilets.) HINT: we bought the blue pucks for the toilets, and that helped.

Staff are very friendly and accomodating, they are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Its up to management to improve the building. I always enjoyed the food there, but it is not as good as in past years, and that seemed to be the concensus with other repeat customers.

We will go again, since it is the best value that I know of, approx $1800 for a family of four in a relatively large suite. (2 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms.) Most timeshares charge full adult rates of about $80 per day for teenagers/adults, whereas CPC charges only 30 and 55 for adults for the all inclusive, and its optional. Once our kids are 18, then we will sell and buy somewhere nicer.

This is our third and last time coming to the CPC. This resort has gone way downhill. The second day we were there, one of the employees at the kids club had stolen our 3 daughters bathing suits and assuring my husband the night before that the bathing s uits were safe in the kids club. I was not surprised at all when they were not there the next morning The womans name who works at the kids club is Diana. be wary of her, shes the thief who stole them . Then someone stole my sons flipflops at the main pool. We let that slide, WE complained to Elias the manager and he assured "within 48 hours we would get our bathing suits back" we waited 3 days then went back, of course he did not have them , but he said we could go to any of the 3 gift shops in the hotel and pick out any 3 bathings suits we wanted, I did so and the hotel paid for it.

As for the food, it was not like the last time we went, it really declined in quality, the specialty restaurants were sub-par. Waynes Boots was ok if you forget the fact that you are eating bull meat. The sushi place was good, buffet was so-so. The mexican restaurant was the best.We tipped the waiters and housekeeping as oftern as we could, they really deserved it.

Last but not least I saw giant cockroaches!! To me that means the hotel is filthy and OLD, If I ever go to Cancun again I will probably go to RIU Las Americas.

“not impressed....”

We are from the USA and just spent one week in Cancun at Crown Paradise Club. We upgraded to the club suite expecting to be pampered on our vacation. We had access to the "club tower" for breakfast and evening cocktails, computer access and our own Club Concierge. I was not impressed by anything at this resort.
It was the same 2 choices of hot breakfast for 7 days in the club tower - but the 2 mornings we ate it it wasn't even hot. We ended up at the buffet most mornings. The evening cocktails were fine.
When we checked in our concierge never told us about making dinner reservations BEFORE 4pm, therefore the first night we ate at the buffet. He never told us about alot of the activities, such as the adult pool with the swim up bar and no kids (found out about that 3 days into trip from another guest), the water slides or the fact that every 3rd day our room key wouldn't work (i assume that doesn't happen to everyone).
The a/c in our room was awful. It was always humid and muggy. Sleeping was hot. I asked 2 times to have it checked and someone did come promptly, but it never got cool. This was my first time in Cancun and I am not sure if it is normal because it is just hot there generally, but no matter where we were it was muggy. All the dining establishments were warm, the theatre was warm and the elevators definately did NOT have a/c, which made it a long ride to the eight floor.
The food wasn't great. My favorite food there were the burgers at the poolside bar. The steakhouse served an excellent filet and the mexican was good. The italian and seafood dinners were nothing special.
A few mornings I made coffee in our room and the coffee pot was still dirty after housekeeping was there. The bed was hard and springy - definately NOT a good bed. Would've expected maybe a pillow top or at least nice sheets - neither.
Our tv didn't work one day. It was fixed within the hour.
I was just not impressed at all. Paying more to have a little special treatment was a waste of money. I didn't find our club concierge going above and beyond at all. It was hot everywhere indoors. I have been to less expensive resorts and have had better treatment. I am picky, but mostly I expect to get what I paid for. We even had to carry our own 4 suitcases to the main lobby. I thought for sure our "club concierge" would have called for our bags to be brought down when we checked out - nope!!

Overall, for kids it seemed like a fun filled place. The activities at the pool were fun for all ages, kid to adult. For an adult vacation looking for pampering, even though they offer the "kid free" club tower, I don't recommend it. The kids and families were never an issue for us, we just wanted a little pampering that we paid for.
