“Disappointing”

Sheraton Vancouver - Wall Centre

2 of 5 stars
Melbourne, Australia
Jul 26, 2008

My husband and I booked a deluxe room in the North Tower thinking we would end our holiday in style before the flight back across the Pacific. After making our way through an obstacle course of luggage, check in was difficult as could not hear anything in the excessively noisy lobby full of people. The room lacked the finesse and attention to detail from what I would expect, for example - paper 'Starbucks' cups were provided instead of proper ones, no mini-bar, no bathrobes and only one towel hook in the bathroom. Not sure where the 2nd person is meant to put their towel? Don't mind spending $ for the finer things in life. This hotel just isn't one one of those finer things.

“Not good value for the price”

Sheraton Vancouver - Wall Centre

2 of 5 stars
Virginia, USA
Jul 24, 2008

Our second stay here, first was 2004. Location is good for all tourist adventures, hotel restaurant is fine as the dont-want-to-go-out choice. The view from the towers is great, the staff are very cheerful and helpful. It was nice to have an empty fridge to use (and there's a good grocery shop just two blocks away). But then there are the negatives. The rooms have odd angles so furniture is hard to arrange, especially if you've asked for two beds: our first room had a bed in each room, but the desk was in one and the cord for the internet service was at the farthest point away in the other room; our second room, with the desk useful for our necessary computer, had an 18" closet in which the clothes had to share space with the ironing board; and the little bar area was 6" away from the edge of one bed. The AC system was horrible -- full-blast on or off, noisy on and switching on and off; because one wall of our room was all glass, facing west, we needed that AC. (The all-glass wall also leads to acres of curtains to pull when you want darkness.) The bath was small. The place is showing its age, and maintenance is sloppy: amateurishly applied caulk around the bathtub, a cracked basin in the bathroom, and a smoke detector dangling from the ceiling! Housekeeping was pretty bad -- one bed not correctly made (one whole corner of sheets and blankets not tucked in), cleanliness not very thorough, and through the course of our week's stay we got fewer and fewer towels and fresh glasses. (At these prices, can't they afford to give more than one drinking glass per person?) Not unique to this hotel, but totally maddening, is the bottle of 'spring' water on the bar area for which they would charge you $4.50!! All in all, not worth the extravagant price.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our holiday, Our room was in the North Tower on the 23 rd floor. The views from here were spectacular , overlooking the city , moutains and ocean. Our room was very spacious and the hotal is perfectly located in the downtown area to explore the whole city.

“Good location, walkable to many areas, 'triangular' rooms”

Sheraton Vancouver - Wall Centre

Jul 19, 2008

We stayed her two times around the July 4 weekend (before and after the Whistler Mountaineer train ride-which was excellent). The 1st night we were in the south tower overlooking the hospital on Burrard street - it's not too bad, but was noisy with the ambulances coming to the hospital. The rooms are a bit odd in this tower - they are all triangular which makes getting around the room a bit awkward. Our closet in the 1st room, due to the triangle, was about 12 inches wide, enough for 4 hangers. The second night, 3 days later, we were in the south tower again but overlooking the courtyard, which was 100% quieter - still triangular with odd furniture locations (like the fridge next to the bed and the desk 6 inches in front of the bed). There are signs of wear in the rooms (in the bathroom, looked like they had removed a fixture from the wall and not repainted it yet - they must have a lot of tours or visitors). Room service was OK, and a bit pricey. Staff was very helpful with questions, tips on getting around. No free internet (we went to the coffee houses to get that). Tried the breakfast at the restaurant - it was "ok", but the food was a bit too heavy (pancakes were heavy and 'oily') for my fellow traveler (they did not charge us after we told them and apologized for the dish). We had a pretty easy walk to Robson street for shopping and restaurants - you can get to Stanley Park via bus, per the concierge - but we did not have time. It is nice that the Vancouver Airporter bus stops right at the hotel - that was a good way to get to/from the airport (allow yourself plenty of time to get to the airport - the bus was fine but there are only local streets most of the way and lots of traffic - ask the concierge).

Would stay there again, due to location and staff, but would carefully select room location.

“great location - good for business”

Sheraton Vancouver - Wall Centre

4 of 5 stars
Paris, France
Jul 16, 2008

I stayed at the Sheraton from July 6 to 9 for a conference.

the room was on the 27th floor in the north tower. clean, wide, king size bed, large flat screen tv, AC a bit too noisy, nice view.

breakfast is served at the cafe located on the ground floor (17CAD for continental breakfast seemed to much for what was offered).

I didn't try the hotel restaurants since the hotel itself is perfectly located in a very lively area.

wireless internet is expensive (14CAD for 1 day - just across the street, "cafe de france" offers free wireless).

The hotel is perfect for business travellers.
