This is the first review I have ever written. We have recently returned from a trip to Alaska, Victoria BC and Seattle (July 2008). One of the highlights of our trip was our two night stay at the Abbeymoore Manor B&B in Victoria. We found this wonderful place on Tripadvisor.. We have stayed at quite a number of B&Bs over the years, but this one stands out. Usually what separates a good B&B from a great B&B are the small touches. And these guys seem to have thought of everything. They have books and DVD s to lend, and a computer with high speed access. There is a fridge with cool drinks. They even give you a small plastic Ziploc bag so that you can take your soap with you instead of throwing it away! The public rooms are tastefully decorated, and although there were many guests staying at the same time as us, our room was very quiet.
At the time of booking, I mentioned that we wanted to take a ferry to Seattle. They made the reservations for us, so all we had to do was show up. When we wanted to know where to eat, they had great recommendations, and called in our reservations. We wanted to see the fireworks at the Butchart Gardens, so they called the bus company to check on the transportation and even provided us with blankets to sit on. This was like staying with family, without any of the drama!
Ian, Anne and their staff were friendly, and always courteous.. We were lucky enough to book the Penthouse, which consists of the entire 3rd floor of this historic building. There was a wonderful living room with a big HDTV, light and airy bedroom and an open kitchen area. Breakfast was gourmet, delicious and served on the porch (they also offer inside dining) with a great view. The location is right across from the public gardens at the BC Lt. Governor's house, and was an easy walk to downtown. When we were too tired to walk, it was a short $10 cab ride back. The 2 days passed too quickly, and we can't wait to go back to Victoria and Abbeymoore Manor for a longer stay!
