“Fantastic Time at Abbeymoore Manor”

Abbeymoore Manor Bed and Breakfast Inn

5 of 5 stars
San Antonio, TX
Aug 19, 2008

What a wonderful place this is. The rooms are beautiful. The location is superb. The food is delicious and the innkeepers are a model of hospitality. We spent 2 wonderful nights with Ian and Anne in their beautiful Abbeymoore Manor. Ian and Anne know everything about the area and can recommend wonderful restaurants and things to do. We ate the best Asian food I have ever eaten and had high tea at the Empress Hotel. We walked to the castle and downtown. We spent one whole afternoon at the BC Museum and took an open air, hop on and off bus for a tour of the city. We hopped off at Fisherman's Wharf for fish and chips. Abbeymoore Manor is a wonderful example of what a B and B should be and I hope we can return soon.

“Loved the Bed and Breakfast”

We stayed at the Abbeymore Bed and Breakfast for our honeymoon. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was so cozy that we wished we could have stayed much longer. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. The service was exceptional. Also, the breakfast was one of the tastiest I have had in a long time. Thank you Abbeymore! Rick and Naz

“Excellent”

Abbeymoore Manor Bed and Breakfast Inn

5 of 5 stars
Inverness, United Kingdom
Aug 18, 2008

Cannot recommend this B&B highly enough - all of the positive reviews are accurate. Stayed here for 3 nights in early August 2008. We had been in Vancouver and it was just too hot and busy so we decided to take the sea plane (wonderful and worth the price) to escape and stay with Ian and Ann. As this was a last minute booking availibility was limited so we ended up in the penthouse suite. Location is great - far enough away from Victoria to be quiet but close enough to walk to or a few minutes drive - the surrounding houses are lovely - very historic.

The Penthouse is an enormous apartment which a full kitchen, dining table, sofa, chairs, huge flat screen TV ( and I mean huge!) and then a separate bedroom with queen bed and a walk in wardrobe. There are limited views in summer of the ocean - but in winter would be great as the leaves will be off the trees - in summer you look at a canopy of leaves which is very relaxing! There was also a nice bathrom with a deep soaking tub. Bed linens were lovely and fluffy towels provided. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Robes were also provided. As my husband and I are noise sensitive the penthouse proved to be the perfect choice as the apartment was very self contained and quiet.

As other reviewers have said the B&B is very comfortable and relaxed - it felt like a home away from home (espiecally when you have been travelling a while), with plates of delicious home made cookies, cans of soda, tea and coffee always available free of charge- and proper sized cups for a good cup of tea - teapots also availalbe for the UK folk! In additional there was always fresh fruit for guests to nibble on, bags of crisps and snacks - and free bottled water - just help yourself. This is very rare and one of the things which sets Abbeymore apart from the rest. The public areas were very comfortable with log fires and comfy seating.

Food was amazing - b/fasts a delight. I'm vegetarian and that was no issue and imaginative dishes were produced which I would choose to eat at home, and were of restaurant quality. Each day featured a new gourmet delight - freshly baked croissants & scones, fresh fruit with vanilla yogurt and then a hot dish - 2 home made and totally wonderful courses with as much tea and juice as you can drink. If that was not enough the hosts are wonderful happy people. B/fast is served to you and tables are laid with linen and nice silverware - as the weather was good we ate outside. Nothing is too much trouble and both Ian and Ann are so welcoming and friendly - I asked if they had any feather pillows and by early evening said pillows were on the bed - and had been bought specially for me (thank you Ian!). In addition Ian gave us great tips on where to go and what to do - we took his advice on whale watching and got the best boat (eagle wing)and great whales - and they booked it all for us at no charge. We also got great recommendations for afternoon tea at Butchard (fantastic) Gardens and good tips on ferries to the gulf islands.

In addition there was a PC and free internet access and a library of books for guests to dip into and swap books as required.

Our stay was the best of our trip and I totally recommend this B&B, and I am fussy!. We went on to stay at Sooke Harbour House (see separate review) and to be honest whilst it was a lovely location it was not a patch on the hospitaility and the food we experienced at Abbeymore and we wished we were back at Abbeymore!

“Best Banana Cake Ever!”

Abbeymoore Manor Bed and Breakfast Inn

5 of 5 stars
Bradford England
Aug 17, 2008

Not sure what else I can add to all the other fantastic reviews of this property except to endorse them!
Ian is a very likeable and knowledgeable host, a great conversationalist, and is prepared to do anything for you. Ann, his wife is an innovative cook, and extremely skilled in everything she produces. Breakfasts were truely unbelieveable, and we didn't want them to end! My husband is still talking about the wonderful banana cake!
Their recommendation of "Pescatores" a fish restaurant in Victoria was the best meal of our whole trip.
Particularly enjoyed an early morning stroll around the gardens of the Governors Residence (which was free!) just across the road.

“Best Ever B & B Stay”

Abbeymoore Manor Bed and Breakfast Inn

5 of 5 stars
colorado
Aug 5, 2008

We stayed at Abbeymore B & B for four nights to celebrate my birthday. The location is perfect and within walking distance of Craigdarroch Castle, Government house gardens, Ross Bay area. Many local restaurants too. Easy access to the downtown area for British Museum, Empress Hotel and Wharfside activities. The Abbeymoore hosts, Ian and Anne, are excellent innkeepers in every aspect. Their accomodations are "top-notch" concerning cleanliness and hospitality. The rooms are very comfortable with supberb bed linens, towels and "comfy" terry robes to curl up in.The gourmet breakfasts were different everyday and very above average. All day access to hot and cold beverages, homemade cookies, fresh fruit bowl and other snacks were especially welcome, after a full day of exploring the Victoria area. Both Ian and Anne are very knowledgable of everything from restaurants, places to visit, whale watching, shopping, etc. even where to park. The "common " areas of the B & B are furnished with antiques, television, local newspapers, a library of books for local attractions and reataurants, internet service and off-street parking. It's like a home away from home.We intend to return someday.
