“enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to any families traveling”

Delta Chelsea

4 of 5 stars
London Grove, PA
Aug 23, 2008

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and although the lobby is constantly busy there is not much of a wait. We took our kids (5 & 9) to the indoor pool/waterslide and they loved it. There were children of all ages using it and enjoying it. In the market garden restaurant children under 5 ate for free as long as the adult they were with paid a certain amount (10 dollars). It is a busy neighborhood but is in the center of it all. The rooms were nice the beds comfortable but was just a double. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone staying with their family.

“Great location, disappointing family pool area”

Delta Chelsea

3 of 5 stars
Burlington, Ontario
Aug 22, 2008

We stayed at this hotel for two nights Aug. 18 and 19th. It is in an excellent location and we found it to be very family friendly. We were, however, disappointed with a few things. We stayed in a Deluxe Room - tastefully decorated with newer furnishings and comfortable beds and pillows. The beds have duvets which is nice - but they do not have duvet covers on them. A plain white flat sheet is placed under the duvet and on top of the duvet - leaving the duvet itself exposed when the sheets move around. I can't imagine the duvets are washed after every guest so we found this to be a little off-putting.

Although the room itself was clearly renovated and updated, as was the sink and shelving area in the bathroom, it appeared that the tub and shower area were in their original form. The grout around the tile was dirty, there was thick and poorly applied caulking around the tap adn tub, and the slip guards in the tub were dirty. The laundry drying cord in the shower was broken. There was a flimsy metal public bathroom-type toilet paper holder attached under the sink cabinet - and as with most public bathrooms, it was easier to take the roll off the holder than to try to make it work.

We had requested a fridge and although it was not there upon our arrival, it was brought up to our room immediately when we called down about it. It was was very large and spacious for a bar-type fridge.

On the second level there is a large enclosed supervised kids activity area. We just took a quick tour so I can't comment on the childcare or scheduled activities, but it looked well laid-out with lots for the younger set to do.

The family pool area was disapppointing. It is very outdated and the pool is about the size of a backyard swimming pool. There are plastic chairs around the pool but getting one is nearly impossible in the evenings when the pool is busy. The evening we were there, the towels had not been replenished so we arrived with nothing and had to go back up to our room to get towels. Beware that there are height and swimming ability requirements for the waterslide. Our 4 year-old was in tears when she learned she was too short for it. Although the hotel advertises the slide extensively, we never saw anything stating the height requirement so were not prepared. The teenagers at the pool seemed to love it.

We ate at the pub and the food and service were good.

Overall our stay was good and the location can't be beat. The most disppointing thing for us was the pool area but the kids were fine with it and if you don't have kids, you can enjoy the adult pool upstairs which we heard was nicer.

We paid $139.00CDN a night through Travelzoo.

“regular visitor”

Delta Chelsea

Aug 21, 2008

Ive stayed in the Delta a number of times ( 5 - 7 times) in the last year, while in toronto on business and have always found the hotel to deliver as promised. It is important to ask for one of the remodeled rooms as the old stlye are not great. As i travel on my own I rarely need to interact with the staff so I'm not in a position to comment too much on the quality of service, but anytime i've needed something its been done.
The location is great and the size of the hotel helps in that there is nearly always another lonely soul in the bar, if you fancy a chat over a beer.
The only gripe I have is that the speed of the internet connection in the rooms is terrible, even in the middle of the night ( I try and keep to Irish time). I nearly always end up ringing the support number to get it resolved.

“Disappointed on Honeymoon”

Delta Chelsea

Aug 20, 2008

Durring some months of the year, heat is not available in the room. You must request a space heater from the frontdesk. This was a surprise. I don't know if this is mentioned anywhere, but considering that the room I got is listed at five hundred dollars per night, I find this unacceptable.

I went to plug in the space heater and there's something broken off the in wall socket. All other sockets are used by lamps and the clock. Called maintenance. Maintenance worker plugged in a powerstrip and advised us that if we turn the heat up, we'll blow the fuse in the room.

Internet costs twelve dollars per day. Did I mention that the room is listed at five hundred dollars per night? Also, it's firewalled, so HTTP might be kind of fast, but don't count on everything being fast.

Also, when ordering room service, one item was not brought with the meal, and had to be re-requested. No big deal, but on top of everything else, the problems are a bit too much.

Complained to the manager. We were advised that we would be given a different room the next day (instead of immediately).

I regret coming to this hotel with my new wife, and wouldn't do so again. I am also disappointed with our travel agent for sending us to this hotel.

“Brilliant hotel for families”

Delta Chelsea

4 of 5 stars
Middlesbrough
Aug 20, 2008

We stayed here for a week and found it to be a fantastic hotel. Location is good about 30 yards from Yonge St. and 250 yards from the Eaton Centre. Good restaurants and plenty of shops close by. Excellent for kids, our 9 yr old loved the long twisty slide into the pool and there is a kids room with playstations etc. The hotel's market garden restaurant is reasonably priced, we had breakfast there most days about 8 to 10 dollars for breakfast and 6 dollars for kids with plenty of choice. Rooms were spacious and ours had a balcony which overlooked Yonge St. which was great, and the bed was very comfortable.
It's worth trying to get a room overlooking Yonge St or south facing towards downtown and the lake. Overall very good and we would definately stay there again.
