These people are crooks; if you stay here, prepared to be screwed over. My husband and I live in Toronto, but wanted to have a nice night away, so we booked a night at the Clarion. We liked the hotel - it was a fine stay. The staff wasn't overly friendly, and the 'continental' breakfast in the basement wasn't the best meal, but it was fine for a budget place.
Then, they made an unauthorized charge on my credit card. BEFORE I WAS EVEN CHECKED OUT, they charged me $30.00, without my consent. I charged the cost of the room to my credit card, and when I checked my statement, I phoned the hotel to find out why I had this extra charge. They then accused me of stealing a blanket (in late May? We don't want their icky hotel blanket with god-knows-what-bodily-fluids on it! We brought a backpack for 2 people, as we only needed to bring our toiletries and a change of clothes. Where would we pack this big blanket, to smuggle it out? Why would we steal a blanket when we live in the same city?). We did not steal the blanket, so I was more than a little upset to be not only accused of theft, but charged $30!! I have phoned the hotel repeatedly, with no one to help me. One manager told me that she believes I didn't steal the blanket, and can't explain the charge.
I believe they are trying to extort money from guests this way. Check your credit card statements, or better yet, don't leave them your credit card information.
