“Review from an Elfordleigh Bride..”

Elfordleigh Hotel

Oct 14, 2006

I felt the need to write a review on this site as I know that many brides check out tripadvisor before booking their reception venues..
We were married last month (Sep 06) and our reception was held in the Elite Suite at the Elfordleigh.
I cannot speak any more highly of the staff at this hotel - in particular the Wedding Coordinator, Julie and Function Manager Chris.
The organisation and professionalism during the wedding planning and on the day only proved that this hotel has the art of wedding functions perfected to a tea..
Nothing was too much trouble and the service received on the day was first class (particularly as we had bad weather and the hotel had to rearrange a few things last minute).
Its fair to say that some parts of the hotel are in need of a bit of modernisation although the Honeymoon Suite was really lovely with superb views and a four poster bed..

We had the most wonderful wedding day and we didn’t even get to make the most of the beautiful views and patio because of the weather, but it really didn’t matter..
This hotel understands the importance of getting it right on the day and I would 100% recommend them to other couples considering getting married there!

“Lovely”

Elfordleigh Hotel

Jul 25, 2006

It's a lovely place and we shall definitely go back, maybe taking the golf clubs next time. Helpful staff, big rooms and nice firm beds. Small gripes: there was a function every night which produced a bit of noise till past midnight; the brasserie food was a bit stodgy and this put us off trying the more expensive restaurant. But it's a beautiful place and they make you feel very welcome. Great pool and sauna etc too.

“Pretty good”

Elfordleigh Hotel

My colleague and I stayed three nights here on business. The building is a converted stately home, so the walls are a bit thin and you can hear people when they tramp up and down the corridors. Having said that, when it’s quiet, it really is quiet – you can’t hear a thing.

We ate in the bar each night, plenty of choice on the menu and nothing to complain about.

Breakfast was great, with the option of fish. The breakfast waitress was nice and remembered my colleague’s idiosyncrasy.

Some rooms look out over a courtyard, some over the golf course and the surrounding countryside, which is green as far as the eye can see.

The rooms have a flat screen TV. There’s a gym, sauna and pool. I spent an hour in the pool, it is quite big and there were maybe three other people in the water with me.

The only possible downside is that we were told all rooms were non smoking, yet the rooms had ash trays in. Having said that, the rooms were not smelly.

Next time we’re in Plymouth, this would be our first choice.

Stayed at the hotel for a weekend as it was a friends wedding on the saturday actually in the hotel.
I found the hotel in need of upgrading the decor, however the staff, food and rooms very very good.
The wedding reception day and evening were very good and the service was great all the staff were friendly and very helpful.
The health club was clean and modern and again staff helpful and friendly.
