Stayed here for two nights in August. We arrived at the hotel early and asked whether we could leave our bags there until we could check in. This was sorted out although it took a few minutes as the member of staff was unsure whether we could do this. Eventually she registered us as our room was not ready which I was disappointed about as we had requested early check-in.
Our room was on the 8th floor with nice views of the Mersey but it was right by the entrance to the Ark Spa which meant there were often people going past (we were in a business class room). Our air conditioning control was broken so we had no way to change the settings or temperature - it was set on 'auto' but most of time it was off and the room was very stuffy! The ventilation in the bathroom was very noisy even with the door closed which was an issue at night.
The bed was comfortable enough but not a King size mattress but two twin beds pushed together meaning that if you rolled over to the middle it was very uncomfortable. The sheets were also badly fitted and they moved every time you sat/lay on the bed.
There were no robes in the room although once this was mentioned to reception on our way out they were there by the time we got back. The mini-bar was also not re-stocked on arrival. There were also issues with the TV as we were unable to receive some of the channels, apparently this was due to a power cut a few weeks ago and there was nothing they could do about it.
The 'nespresso' machine and free wireless internet were nice additions but other than that there is very little in the hotel that justifies the cost of a room.
