“Nothing Exceptional”

Radisson SAS Liverpool

Aug 28, 2008

Stayed here for two nights in August. We arrived at the hotel early and asked whether we could leave our bags there until we could check in. This was sorted out although it took a few minutes as the member of staff was unsure whether we could do this. Eventually she registered us as our room was not ready which I was disappointed about as we had requested early check-in.

Our room was on the 8th floor with nice views of the Mersey but it was right by the entrance to the Ark Spa which meant there were often people going past (we were in a business class room). Our air conditioning control was broken so we had no way to change the settings or temperature - it was set on 'auto' but most of time it was off and the room was very stuffy! The ventilation in the bathroom was very noisy even with the door closed which was an issue at night.

The bed was comfortable enough but not a King size mattress but two twin beds pushed together meaning that if you rolled over to the middle it was very uncomfortable. The sheets were also badly fitted and they moved every time you sat/lay on the bed.

There were no robes in the room although once this was mentioned to reception on our way out they were there by the time we got back. The mini-bar was also not re-stocked on arrival. There were also issues with the TV as we were unable to receive some of the channels, apparently this was due to a power cut a few weeks ago and there was nothing they could do about it.

The 'nespresso' machine and free wireless internet were nice additions but other than that there is very little in the hotel that justifies the cost of a room.

“Very helpful staff, great hotel”

Radisson SAS Liverpool

4 of 5 stars
Robertsbridge
Aug 6, 2008

The exterior is dull, but the atrium rather striking in its grey and white stripes. Check-in was easy and efficient, as was porterage and valet parking. Splendid room (Urban style) overlooking the Mersey as requested. Everything functioned in the room, but it would be nice to have a rubber bathmat for disabled guests.

The hotel was a little noisy outside the room, but mainly due to unruly children. The Italian restaurant, Filini, found in most, if not all, SAS-Radisson hotels, offers a high standard of simple Italian cuisine (mainly Northern Italy), and very well prepared.

The only disadvantage is that you cannot access your car directly, and the concierge has to get anything you need later, but as this is due to the high security parking, it is a minor inconvenience. It is easy to drive to from outside Liverpool, and a good location within the city, with taxis, buses and trains close by.

    • Liked — Warm greeting and frienfliness of the staff.
    • Disliked — Generally very good.

“Extortionate Prices At The Bar”

Radisson SAS Liverpool

2 of 5 stars
Standish, Wigan
Jul 25, 2008

I stayed in this hotel as we were in Liverpool on business.

Room was OK, clean and a good size but as so many reviewers have said - the noise travels and it was after 2 in the morning by the time I managed to get to sleep.

Very hot day when we stayed and a nice touch would have been to have some iced water either at reception or in the room without having to pay a ridiculous price for it.

We decided to head down to the bar and treat ourselves to a double vodka with a bottle of slimline tonic and a double gin with a bottle of tonic - the bill came to a staggering TWENTY FOUR POUNDS.

If I stay here again, I'll be sure to pop into the Sainsbury's Local further down the street first!

Breakfast was good with masses to choose from and a massive pot of coffee left on our table so we could keep refilling.

3 out of 5 from me.

“Stunning Stay!”

I cannot say a single negative word about this hotel. All the way around, a perfect visit. From the wine and hors d'oeuvres when we arrived to the friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is minutes away from many pubs and restaurants and close to the Albert Dock. The rooms were stupendous, comfortable and modern, the atrium like a dream. I would happily stay here again.

“Ear plug Inn”

Radisson SAS Liverpool

Jun 25, 2008

Wonderful hotel, beautiful building, excellent location BUT terribly noisy. Because of the design, all the sound is spread thoughout the building. We stayed on a weekend and there were some hen night parties, etc. The noise went on until after 4:00 am. I had to use ear plugs for the first time. The staff are very good especially the gentleman who manages the breakfast; he is a star.
