I got a great deal from Hotels.com, paying a little less than $200/night for three nights after taxes and fees. We arrived early and was told that our room wasn't ready. So we went out for lunch then came back around 2 PM. We had originally booked an one bedroom apartment, but were pleasantly surprised that find out we had been upgraded two a two bedroom apartment. Not like we really needed the extra bedroom, but the extra bathroom does help.
The first thing we noticed is the smell in the kitchen. I guess maybe the previous resident had used the kitchen extensively. Overall, the place just felt a little bit worn out. There are scratches over the walls. The bathroom weren't particularly clean. Worst of all, the mattress is in horrible condition. I can literally feel the springs hitting against my back when I lay down. I had to take the comforter from the second bed and use it as padding. There is a bar/restaurant right across from the hotel. On the downside, the bar plays really loud music over weekend nights.
On the plus side, the apartment has everything you would need for your stay. We used the washer and dryer more than once during our stay. The wireless internet was free of charge. You also get some juice and bread in the refrigerator. The location of the hotel is slightly farther out. But, it sitting in between two very convenient bus routes. Edinburgh is a great city to travel by bus, where 2.50 buys you a day pass.
This hotel is still a great choice and I would recommend it to people. However, the mattress definitely needs to be replaced.
