We picked this hotel (stayed 9/19 & 9/20) because of it's location in the lively Latin Quarter of Paris. The Sorbonne University is located in front of the hotel and the streets are alive and safe til the wee hours of the morning. Inspite of the activity, our room was very well sound-proofed. The hotel is modern with a bar and a small lobby. Our room seemed smaller than the usual boutique hotel rooms you would find in Paris but we managed to inch our way around the room.. Having read the reviews, we made sure to call the hotel and find out if the air conditioning had been fixed (it has) but alas, the ice machine was still out. We called each night (and you would think there would be some impetus to fix it) but kept being non-apologetically directed to the local brasserie for ice. Nicholas at the front desk was excellent and the breakfast staff was good--but that is where the service stops. There was a taxi strike on the morning we were to leave and when I called down to Veronique (front desk) to ask about a limo or private car, she informed me there were no such services in Paris. I couldn't believe it and asked her repeatedly and all she could suggest was the Metro. We ended up going through the internet to book a limo service and when I offered the tel. no. to her for other guests, she informed me that she "forgot" and that she did know of such a service. There are certain amenitites and services all hotels are expected to know of and provide but I was disappointed at the staff's coolness and nonchalance in being so unresponsive to our needs. I had a distinct feeling that when we voiced our few requests, we were an inconvenience to them. Nice place, but go elsewhere if you want service.
