I visited Paris to celebrate my retirement and stayed for 8 days at Du Marais, 2 bis Rue des Commines in the 3rd Arr part of the Marais. I had friends staying at another hotel nearer Place des Vosges. We were well pleased with the locations of our accomodations and rendezvoused easily to explore our favorite city haunts.

I booked my room through Venere.com and got a rate of 65 euros/night. I had a wc, large bed and smoking with this booking. This 2-star hotel is on the fringe of a very popular area of Paris and there are many fashion shops moving into the neighborhood. It is only 5 min walk to the Musee Picasso and Place des Vosges galleries. The streets are being repaired and many buildings are being renovated so be aware of ongoing construction nearby.

The staff was very helpful, and use of computer for email is permitted. There are smallish rooms but baths are quite nice, newly refurbished and spotlessly maintained.

I paid half the price of my friends' room in the heart of the Place des Vosges environs, and I think this is a great option for cost conscious visitors to Paris. There are small grocery shops near for stocking up on fresh fruit and water. Heat was great, and noise was minimal after the end of the labor working day. Seems this property is frequented by an eclectic mix of people from a variety of lifestyles making this a fun, enriching experience as you come and go. Loved the whole vibe of the experience.

This is a decent hotel in a reasonable location in the Marais. The rate is cheap. The walls in the room were thin and it was possible to hear the neighbours. The rooms are a bit dark. I thought the size of the rooms was good, with probably the most space I've ever had in a Paris hotel room.

My partner and I stayed for four nights in this Hotel we found the staff extremely rude and aggressive. The Hotel Manager had no control of his staff who totally ignored his instrctions.
The rooms are very poor standards even for a two star hotel, rooms are very tiny and the bathroom are the size of a telephone box. the linen was very shabby and the carpets hadn't seen a vaccum clearer for ever.
I have stayed in many two star hotel in the same area so I know the standard however the Du Marais is well below everyones standards.

Having read the previous reviews on this hotel, I was looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately, we experienced nothing but rudeness from the staff. One morning a maid starting shouting at my partner in French, which we only understand a little of. She apparently thought that he had taken another baguette. We hadn't of course. Firstly, what is the problem taking a baguette, and secondly, you do not shout at your guests. We complained to the manager, who said he would deal with it. We heard nothing else after this, but we had asked for an apology from this maid, which did not happen. It spoiled our weekend somewhat. I would not go there again. There were also leaks in the bathroom, which wet our bedroom carpet, which would have been obvious to anyone cleaning the room but wasn't actioned.
