Melissa and Francois gave us such a warm welcome upon our arrival in Rome, just what you need when you arrive to a foreign city jet-lagged and a bit overwhelmed. The fact that they both spoke English (Melissa is American in fact) provided a comfort that we really appreciated. We immediately were given a detailed map of the city and an orientation to all the sites, etc. To say that the Colosseum/Forum is "close" is an understatement; you can literally walk there in under 5 minutes. We took full advantage of its proximity and took a picnic dinner to the Colosseum that first night to gaze at it in all it's illuminated glory - what a memorable experience!
The Nicolas Inn has 3 very nice, modern rooms with updated bathrooms, TV, AC, safe, closet w/ plenty of hangers, and refrig. We stayed in the room that faces the courtyard, which I would definitely recommend if you are a light sleeper. They gave us a bottle of red wine in our room, which was a very nice touch. :)
Melissa and Francois are so helpful and always there when you go to find them to ask a question. We couldn't have asked for a better experience in Rome, and that was much to Nicolas Inn's credit!
