Melissa and Francois gave us such a warm welcome upon our arrival in Rome, just what you need when you arrive to a foreign city jet-lagged and a bit overwhelmed. The fact that they both spoke English (Melissa is American in fact) provided a comfort that we really appreciated. We immediately were given a detailed map of the city and an orientation to all the sites, etc. To say that the Colosseum/Forum is "close" is an understatement; you can literally walk there in under 5 minutes. We took full advantage of its proximity and took a picnic dinner to the Colosseum that first night to gaze at it in all it's illuminated glory - what a memorable experience!
The Nicolas Inn has 3 very nice, modern rooms with updated bathrooms, TV, AC, safe, closet w/ plenty of hangers, and refrig. We stayed in the room that faces the courtyard, which I would definitely recommend if you are a light sleeper. They gave us a bottle of red wine in our room, which was a very nice touch. :)
Melissa and Francois are so helpful and always there when you go to find them to ask a question. We couldn't have asked for a better experience in Rome, and that was much to Nicolas Inn's credit!

It is an understatement to say that the Nicolas Inn is excellent. It doesn't describe the personal touch the owners extend to the guests. It is actually, outstanding. We spent almost two weeks at the Inn. The facilities are up to date, the extras (TV, safe, refrigerator where you are able to put your own items, fresh fruit, and the "at home" feel) are welcome. Melissa and Francois are there to offer great travel advice, set up tours, or just make sure that your visit is the one that dreams are made! It is a pleasure to recommend this inn to all! (Just make sure that we can all get a room there...with this many rave reviews, we might have to be on a waiting list!) It is located near the Forum, with ample stores and restaurants to indulge all of your cravings. Easy access to metro and to the walking paths. But, lots to do in the vicinity of the inn. Great breakfast venue, down the street and for the gelato lover...homemade, just across the street.

“Like Being at Home”

My husband and I recently stayed at the Nicholas Inn with another couple we were traveling with. I booked the Nicholas Inn after reading extremely complimentary reviews on both Tripadvisor and other websites. Our experience with this charming B & B was excellent. From the moment Melissa met us at the front door until the time we checked out a week later we had nothing but positive experiences. The Inn is clean, the bedrooms and bathrooms are large by european standards and the proprietors (Melissa & Francois) are friendly and helpful. The Inn is located in a great neighborhood, close to both the Forum and Colosseum and the streets behind the Inn have wonderful family run restaurants and a great gelato bar! We always felt safe no matter what time of day (or night) we were out and everything we needed was within walking distance. The rooms at the Inn each have a small refrigerator and there are plenty of places nearby to buy drinks, snacks, etc. The included breakfast is at a local pastry shop and we enjoyed getting to know the people there as well. There is a safe in each room to leave your valuables. Rome is a very walkable city and we walked just about everywhere from this central location. When we did need a cab to the Vatican or the Borghese Gallery, Melissa called one for us and it was there within ten minutes. They also helped us with tours of Pompeii and an audience with the Pope. I don't know if our travels will bring us back to Rome someday (we did throw a coin in the Trevi fountain), but if the day comes that we do go back, the Nicholas Inn would definitely be the place we would stay.

“Best Stay of my Life”

PLS TAKE A NOTE THAT THIS IS THE BEST HOTEL TO STAY IN ROME AND I MEAN IT IN EVERYWAY.
Me and my wife travelled from India for the first time to Rome and we were really scared of what we would expect of this B&B.I can tell you we were amazed to see the hospitality of both Melissa and Francics that we would always go back and stay with them and would recommend highly everyone to stay at Nicolas Inn

As written in the reviews the Hotel is very close to the Termi station (Only if you have heavy bags it might seem a long walk ) but otherwise within walking distance. There was review that the inside room that opens in their coutyard is the best and i agree as it keeps you away from the street noise(which is hardly there). One thing which i did not see a lot of people mention in their reviews is the Colosseum is only a 5 min walk right in front of the hotel which was amazing. The reason why it is imp is you can leave the hotel room after dinner go for a stroll to the coloussem in the night it is beautiful have a gelato and enjoy the views(world Class). We got the best recommendations from melissa on where to eat and i must say those were our best meals .She told us exactly what to do when we were in Rome and we felt like we were at home.

We had very fond memories of this visit and i strongly recommend that everyone stay in this hotel..There are a few rumors about this hotels that the carpet is burnt etc etc ..Those are all lies and i can tell you i have stayed in 5 star-7 star properties but u will not get the service that you will get from these 2 wonderful people.

You will love it dont think too much about it...Just book the place!!!

“Absolutely Fantastic”

We stayed at the Nicolas Inn for 4 nights in September as part of our 30th wedding anniversary celebration. Francois provided us with a very warm welcome. He helped us with our bags and provided us with refreshing glasses of water, a city map with highlights flagged and a complimentary bottle of wine!

Melissa made all sorts of arrangements/reservations for us including picking up our tickets for the Papal Audience, great dinner recommedations and a private car to return us to Fiumincino Airport (E45) at the end of our visit.

She provided us with detailed directions, bus # and stops which allowed us to maximize our time seeing the sights of the Eternal City. She also recommended Angel Tours for guided tours of the Vatican, the Colosseum & Roman Forum along with the Pantheon which all were very well done.

We had an excellent room at the front of the buiding with a large bathroom including a tub...surprisingly only minimal street noise for such a centrally located property.

We enjoyed eating breakfast at the Ciardi Bar which was located a few doors down from the Nicolas Inn....a place where the locals would also meet in the morning for wonderful sandwiches, pasteries and fabulous cappuccinos. Melissa provided daily coupons to have breakfast between 5:30 and 11am giving us additional flexibility in planning our daily activities.

We would stay at the Nicolas Inn on future trips to Roma and would highly recommend it to other travellers.
