We stayed at the Hotel Calzaiuoli for 2 nights in May and found the hotel to be of a high standard. The rooms were slightly bigger than expected for Florence but not large, however, the fixtures and fittings in the rooms were of a very high quality with marble bathrooms and power showers, great quality towels and toiletries . We booked a standard room and it was beautiful with a king size bed. beautiful crisp white bed linen/ great pillows . Mini bar, Sat TV . The breakfast was simple but very good and served in a lovely dining room with white table cloths.

The only downside was that we had a room at the front of the hotel and it was on one of the main shopping streets which was very busy and noisy late into the early hours of the morning.. Apart from that we would definately recommend this hotel as it was good value, in a good position for shopng and sightseeing and eating out.

My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel in January 2007 for 3 nights and we could not have asked for more. The room was lovely and clean with a beautiful bathroom. The staff were very polite and helpful and told us of the best restaurant that was a hidden gem just two streets down - and I cannot remember the name now! Our bedroom overlooked the main street and there was no noise while the windows were closed and once you opened them it was magnificent to have the sounds of the street come through. I would highly recommend this hotel

Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel. The good points: Our room was quite large with a queen sized bed, dual desk, two chairs with a small table and a smallish flat screened tv. The windows do really keep out most of the lively Florence night noise. The breakfast is quite good and the location is fantastic. Everything is an easy walk. The hotel staff was very helpful and even volunteered to change our airport transfer car to a better time. The rooms are romantic and the bathrooms very comfortable by European standards. The toiletries were plentiful and above average.

We did have a few small complaints. There were no drawers in our room not even in the closet. This was not a big deal, just a bit odd. There are several odd stairs and ramps inside the hotel which could be tricky for older travelers or people with disabilities.

Very nice hotel, in the very center of florence, the street on which it resides is the street that goes from the duomo to the ponte vecchio, right in the middle of those 2 attractions and just 1 block away form the piazza de la republicca. Great fares! Service is very nice, views are amazing.
The only thing I would improve is room size though...
I extremely recommend this hotel!
