“excellent hotel in the centre of Prague”

We have just spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel. We arrived and were greeted by very friendly hotel staff and were offered champagne whilst we completed the registration forms. We were then offered an upgraded room, but we didnt bother with this. The bellboy then took us up to our room on the first floor, a charming room, with plenty of space, - seating area, dining table, sink over a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, and a bathroom. This was probably a little small with a corner bath, which we had difficulty using the shower with without getting the floor completely wet, however the water was hot and plentiful!
we went out to explore Prague and when we returned had been left a chilled bottle of champagne and 2 glasses as it was my partner's birthday - we hadnt mentioned it, they must have noticed it from the passport and/or registration form - a lovely touch we were very grateful!
we had 2 excellent nights sleep - very comfortable beds. although we looked out on the street we didnt hear any noise from outside.
Breakfast was served in a small room near the bar or if the weather was good outside in the courtyard. You helped yourself to cereals, breads, jams, ham, salmon, cheese, cakes etc and then could request a cooked breakfast from a menu on the table. Tea or coffee was also served. The breakfasts were good and very adequate.
the hotel is in a perfect spot for Prague - 2 minutes walk from the astronomical clock and as Prague is a relatively small city, easy walking distance from all the sights, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle etc.
we really liked this hotel and wouldnt have any hesitation in returning.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this hotel is just a few steps away from the Astronomical clock and an easy walk to the Charles River Bridge. The room was clean and spacious, and the staff very helpful, plus the breakfast was great. I'd definitely stay there again.

“Awesome place!”

Iron Gate Hotel & Suites

This is a great little place right in the center of Prague. Everything is within five minutes of the hotel. The rooms are large and very charming. They have a lovely restaurant in the interior court. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

“Absolutely fantastic!”

Iron Gate Hotel & Suites

Jun 9, 2008

What a beautiful hotel! I was staying 3 nights with my parents who had stayed the year before and returned.
I arrived in the morning but was able to leave my bags while i wandered around before checking in knowing they were secure.
Staying in room 206 which was a suite with one Queen bed and a pull out couch (my bed) with 2 bathrooms, one with toilet and spa bath, the other with toilet and shower, a desk, dressing table, walk in robe and sizeable living area with a beautiful ceiling mural and a great view of the back alley.

Staff were attentive and a pleasure to deal with, breakfast was comprehensive and tasty, and as mentioned the room was just amazing. Location was perfect as your in the very centre of everything and 2 seconds away from the town square without being right on it.

There is a lounge downstairs with one computer with net access accessible 24hours, however no restrictions, so if someone wants to be rude and use it for hours they can.

Some late night noise from drunken groups of boys going up the alley late at night was a tad annoying, but not a reflection of the hotel, they seem to roam the streets so i dont think you'd be safe from it anywhere!

Prague is sensational as it is, but staying here certainly made it just that extra bit more special, i can't recommend it enough, complete comfort and luxury! I'd certainly wanting to be staying there again if/when i return to Prague!

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Location and the quality of the room
    • Disliked — the net access(as mentioned in review)

“SHORT & TO THE POINT”

Iron Gate Hotel & Suites

May 31, 2008

1. Position for those wishing to see Prague as a tourist couldn't be better. Sufficiently away from the main square so not the noise that you would have there but only 2 minutes walk.
2. Front desk very helpful.
3. Bedrooms! First one was in the rafters very nice but just not what we expected (My wife said she felt like Ann Frank!) we expected, a high ceiling, big window, spacious bedroom, when we asked to move this is what they provided.
4. Breakfast was nothing to rave about but was ok, the setting to eat however in the courtyard was outstanding.
