“great hotel, great loaction”

Ventana Hotel Prague

Just come back from spending 3 nights at this hotel .. what a great place. When we arrived I saw they proudly displayed a plaque saying that they won a Trip Advisor Award for 2008 .. justly deserved.
The best thing of all about this hotel is the location .. just beside the Old Town Square, but not on the square itself. That meant it's great for all the major sights of the old town, but not situated (as many hotels are) above a bar or restaurant.
The decor and furnishings inside the hotel are great - it's extremely smart and stylish.
We got to the hotel by 119 bus from the airport and then metro. Totally straightforward - and cost 26Krona each (about £1). That's far cheaper than taxi or hotel limo (which they were charging at 35 Euros)
Staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful.
Having spent 3 days in the city I can say that this is certainly the best location for a hotel in the whole city .. and it's also a great hotel

“Fab hotel, excellent location”

We stayed here for four nights from 9th July 08. Room 25 was on a front corner, with three huge windows overlooking both the old town square and the Tyn Church.

Couldn't fault the hotel. Room was excellent, staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful (even happy to lend us a laptop if we wanted to use their free internet access), and location couldn't have been better.

Breakfast each morning consisted of a range of juices, cold meats, cereals, yogurts, cheeses, fruit, breads etc, plus a few hot selections as well as copious amounts of tea and coffee and even sparkling wine for anyone that felt up to it!

We organised a taxi to pick us up from the airport, via the hotel and he driver was waiting for us when we arrived- absolutely hassle free.

I would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone- however I would recommend booking via their website- we managed to get very good deal on the room rate this way.

If I return to Prague, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else

“Perfect!”

Ventana Hotel Prague

5 of 5 stars
Los Angeles

The Ventana Hotel was perfect in every way! The location, the staff, the rooms, the breakfast...we can't think of even the slightest complaint.

Thank you to all the Tripadvisor people that gave such good advice about the Ventana.

Rooms/Staff:
We had a great view of Tyn's Cathedral, the room was open and airy, very clean and updated, and the furnishings were just right. The bathroom was large, and again, extremely clean and updated. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and had good recommendations for sights, food, etc. All spoke fluent English. They made sure that our request for a room with a view was granted - we called a week in advance.

Location:
Exactly as everyone has described - perfect for touring Prague. The square and Tyn's church are literally right out the front door...but the hotel is tucked down a quiet street, so there is no noise or hustle and bustle from the crowds.

Note: There is a great little deli right out front of the lobby where you can get water, liquor, beer, snacks, etc.

Food/Breakfast:
By far the best buffet breakfast we ever experienced in a hotel. Fresh eggs, meats, croissants, juices, sausages, cereals, yogurt, delicious coffee, all sorts of breads - and Champagne! Everything you could want to start your day, and in a charming setting.

Getting There:
We took the Cedaz shuttle for $35 one way, and $30 for the return (Cash only) - book the roundtrip when you pay for the first leg. They are in an easy to find kiosk in the airport baggage claim area. We were expecting to have to go through customs when we arrived, but since we connected through Germany from Los Angeles, they did a passport inspection in Frankfurt, so getting to the hotel was a breeze.

Another good tip: Use the ATM at the airport. There is a minimal fee, and they give you the most up to date exchange rate, and will give you Czech Crowns - don't use the exchange machines or go to exchange stores - you will get ripped off. I wouldn't even bring any American cash - just call your bank before you leave and ask what their rates are, etc....that worked great for us and there are many ATM's throughout Prague.

Locals:
Everyone we met was really nice, and most spoke perfect English. I get the feeling that they are getting used to tourists taking over their town, which is kind of a shame...the Euro is so strong that many young Europeans vacation here and get a big bang for their buck...not so much for Americans - the locals definitely have learned to adjust their prices accordingly. Use good sense when selecting a restaurant or bar, most are tourist traps, you'll have to dig around the side streets to find the right prices. Try to pick up a few Czech phrases - seemed like the locals appreciate any effort to speak their language.

Food/Beer/Sights:
The food in Prague is different - goulashes, cabbages and gamey meats. We enjoyed a lot of the local fare - try Kokolvna to get your feet wet - it's a Pilsner Urquell restaurant about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. They serve Czech fare that is pretty main stream (We had Goulash that was really good)..and of course great beer. You can dine on the sidewalk as well. You definitely should not miss the terrace at the top of the U Prince hotel which is just off the square near the Ventana. They have a nice menu, and serve my new favorite beer of all time - Staropramen!!!! But go mainly for the view - it is right across from the Astronomical clock, and is a great place to be at night.

To Do:
Definitely climb the towers in the astronomical clock and at the Charles Bridge - excellent views - there is a small fee for each, but well worth it. There are a lot of old churches that are worth checking out. We weren't as impressed with the Palace. There are nice views and the St. Vitus cathedral is amazing! Nothing else much to mention.

We had a great time in Prague, and couldn't think of a better place to stay than the Ventana! We definitely hope to be back some day.

Thank you Ventana, you made our stay perfect!

“Excellent Choice of hotel”

Ventana Hotel Prague

We have just come back from our trip to Prague and we are very happy that Ventana Hotel was selected. I picked this hotel from tripadvisor and was a bit hesitate whether the hotel would be as good/true as what the reviews have said. Well... they are true and we really enjoyed our stay with the hotel. The breakfast is fantastic although it is in a simple style, various types of cereals, selection of patries, frutis and juices, some eggs and sausages, etc. The room is quite comfortable and spacious. I felt it is quite safe to stay in the hotel although it is very close to the Old Town Square (the busiest areas). Every tourist spot is very close, including Old Town Square, Clock Tower, Powder Tower, Charles Bridges, etc. All are withing walking distance.

“Nice Hotel, Great Location”

Ventana Hotel Prague

5 of 5 stars

Really enjoyed our long weekend here in May.
It's not a flash, sumptous hotel in the grand manner, more comfortable, smart and compact.
Our loft room was great with a view out to the clock tower, although I'd imagine the more conventional third floor rooms would be just as good, if not better. The only slight downside for us was a noisy aircon unit, which we compained about but which wasn't attended to (I did a temporay fix myself in the end!).
The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful (above excepted), and we were pleased we'd pre-arranged transport with the hotel to collect us from the airport - a nice air-conditioned Merc with the taxi driver giving us a history lesson en route for free!
The bar is rather lacking in atmosphere but that doesn't really matter as there are plenty of places nearby. The breakfast was very good, with a decent selection of hot and cold food.
I can't really imagine a better location in all of Prague - loads of cafes and restaurants nearby, right off one of the main squares, yet still quiet (unless you happen to stay the weekend of the Pargue marathon as we did, which went right past the hotel!). Although only a ten minute walk from Charles Bridge, the hotel itself felt nicely detached from the tourist hustle and bustle. All in all an ideal combination of quiet, comfortable hotel right in the middle of town.
