“Staff made all the Difference”

Santini Residence

I went to Prague with my sisiter for a girls week-the agenda was to relax, take in the city, eat and drink well; the Santini was integral to that agenda. Diana and her partners that staff the hotel made all the difference-they were very attentive to our needs, even researching vegetarian restauarants for us. The breakfast was good and plentiful and always arrived on time. We rarely wanted to get up on time... The location on Nerudova is centrally situated. The bed was like heaven (if you prefer a medium firmness mattress) Transport was arranged by the hotel and very comprable in price to the minivan services. We also found great Indian at Khujarahao and good Thai at Orange Moon-both off the square with the Astronomical Clock. We enjoyed the city and our time there-would definitely stay here again.

I am currently in the little business centre at the Santini residence and I have to say that this little establishment is wonderful. The rooms are huge. I got Room 8 - Barbora on the second floor and it does not disappoint. Spacious in every way, interesting frescos on the ceiling, well lit, well adorned.

As I was walking along the streets there were advertisements for "apartments" going for much less than what I paid, but at the end of the day, I think Santini is going to be hard to beat in terms of what you get. Breakfast was served direct to my room each day at a time of my choosing, reception was very helpful, and the driver (Miroslav) they sent to pick me up (chic black Audi) was very friendly and provided a short intro of Prague on the way to the hotel.

The location of the hotel is also very good - just below the castle/Hradcany district, a couple of hundred metres from the Charles bridge. Before arriving I was thinking of staying at the Astronomical Clock/Wenceslaus Sq area but having visited it, it might be too noisy for my liking.

Overall, a great experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's keen to shell out a few more dollars for a little bit of luxury in this beautiful city.

“Wonderful Hotel Experience”

The Santini Residence was a wonderful place to stay in Prague. Nerudova, where it is situated , is quiet and the hotel nestled between embassy buildings. Just the best place to stay. It is within walking distance of everything including some great restaurants and all the main sights.
Our suite was gorgeous, very spacious and spotlessly clean. We had 2 televisions and coffee making, with breakfast in the room whenever we wanted. The staff were very helpful, friendly and did put themselves out for us.
We enjoy walking so did not need a taxi anywhere, and the staff at the hotel were outstanding. Staying there avoided the tourist traps and noise. Would highly recommend this outstanding hotel.

Have just returned from an amazing weekend at the Santini. I booked for my companion and I on the strength of the reviews found on this website and I can, without hesitation, say we were not let down. The hotel is all that it claims to be and more. We stayed in No 8, Barbara suite, and it is beautiful: wonderfully high, hand painted ceilings add to the vast and comfortable space; a separate kitchen area and marble bathroom; two vast windows onto the picturesque street below; warm, golden furnishings; comfy chairs and a sofa along with a tasteful array of uplighting added to the whole romantic welcome we received and continued to enjoy for the whole weekend. There was also the added delight of complimentary gowns , slippers and a variety of "soapy things" in the bathroom to ensure that even the worst prepared traveller could be saved embarrassment ! Breakfast was served in our room, although you can choose to go downstairs (why would you with those wonderful gowns and breakfast table awaiting as you fall out of an enormous and hugely comfortable bed, which incidentally, acts as a twin or double). On top of this , the staff couldn't be more wonderful:genuinely concerned that you were comfortable and enjoying yourself. My companion wasn't feeling very well on our final day and Alexander (a gem) without being intrusive, took care of us ensuring that we had another room on the day we had to check out as our flight wasn't until the evening. Thank you, Alexander (who also ordered taxis for us and answered a million questions about Prague!)
Finally, if you are looking for an ideal location to explore Prague(the castle, just behind you;Charles bridge, just below you) frescoes lining your stairway to a beautiful room which makes you feel as if you are sleeping in 17th Century but with the comforts of 21st, then look no further...thank you Santini, we will return!

“What to expect and what you won't get”

Santini Residence

Mar 1, 2008
4/4 found this review helpful

I booked this hotel based on the reviews I had read and other information I obtained from the web, and I expected to have an exceptional time here, and I was expecting a 5 star hotel, particularly as this hotel was not cheap, unfortunately this was not the case.

I would like to point out that I have stayed in several different classes of hotel all over the world, and I am trying to review this hotel objectively, rather than on the basis of what I received.

The standard of the suites are without doubt 5 star, they are extremly clean, spacious, have a good standard of furnishings, and are comfortable, but unlike any other 5 star hotel I have stayed in there is no evening turn down service. Now you may think I am being picky here, but when I am paying these prices I expect a turn down service. I also expect to have an iron and ironing board, I asked reception for one, and they sent it to me, and then phoned 30 mins later to ask if I could hurry up with it as another guest needed it!

One of the things I was particularly looking forward to was breakfast, which according to the reviews was exceptional, and delivered to your room at whatever time you wanted. In reality what you do is request your breakfast to be delivered to your room in half hour intervals between7am and 10am, and when it arrives it is particularly average, and not a lot of it. People have stated that the breakfast was something special, in which case I would direct them to any Hotel Du Vin, or the Swiss-otel in Berlin
to see what good breakfasts look like.

The room also stated that tea and coffee making facilities were available, but all they had on the first 2 days were Nescafe 3 in 1, which is great if you like coffee with milk and sugar but not much use if you don't.

Please also be aware that the bar closes promptly at 11pm even if you are sat there drinking, which I have never come across in any 5 star hotel I have previously stayed in and I have never had it happen in a 4 star hotel either! The restaurant menu has quite limited choice and again the food is average, nowhere near what you would expect in a 5 star hotel.

On the plus side the hotel is well located and close to a tram stop, and the reception staff are very good and try very hard to make sure your stay is enjoyable, but please be aware that this hotel does NOT have a consierge service.

In summary the room was extremely comfortable, and I did have a good time in Prague, but the hotel did not live up to what I was expecting.
