“Met our needs - travelling with child”

Doubletree Guest Suites Washington, DC

My wife and I stayed here for a week at the end of July. We were travelling with our daughter so we wanted a suite. This was the only reasonably-priced suite we could find for our trip.

It's location near the GWU-Foggy Bottom metro stop is excellent. It's also minutes from Watergate (CVS, Safeway, café, etc.) and a 7-11.

The renovations were never an issue, although one elevator was covered in a protective covering. The hotel is definitely dated and worn, however, the renovations should take care of the that. That said, it did the job and provided what a family would need in a suite.

The staff were friendly and helpful. However, whenever we really needed assistance (at check-in and check-out) there was only a single person on duty.

I had to get into the safe-deposit box in the office before check out and no one was available to help. The bell hop even tried to open the box to no avail. I would've done it myself, but I didn't want to interfere. I waited for 10-15 minutes before some guy got off the phone in the back office.

Our room had an adjoining door which, unfortunately, led to noisy neighbors in the next room. That door did not provide much sound insulation and they woke our daughter up a couple of times at night.

The rooftop pool is small but adequate and provided much-needed relief from hot days walking around the Mall. You did get to see some close-up views of plans landing at National airport.

Room service was decently-priced as far as hotels go and the breakfast food was fine and punctual.

“Enjoyed our stay...”

This hotel is not far from the Metro (Foggy Bottom) and very near George Washington Univ. Medical Center. The staff were all polite and helpful. There is construction going on this summer, and the hotel's website does warn about it. So, if you don't mind a little construction, then you will be fine. The construction is needed to update the rooms which are a little worn. The Watergate complex is close by, and the Kennedy Center is within a short walking distance. In fact, we walked back to our hotel from the Lincoln Monument, and it took about 30 minutes or a little less. Would we stay here again? Sure.

    • Disliked — The room was outdated and worn BUT renovation is going on!

“wonderful location for subway trip”

We cooked inside, and walked to the subway station every day. It was fun experience. There were four people in per room, and we open the doors, and made the living room a common area for meetings and hang out.

“Convenient and fabulous”

Doubletree Guest Suites Washington, DC

I took a small troop of Girl Scouts to this hotel (just four girls and two adults). Our room had two queen beds and a queen sofa bed.

The beds were very comfortable and the room was well appointed. We didn't hear any other guests at all when we were in our room. Towels were nice and thick and plentiful.

It was great to have a kitchen, but they were very stingy with the dishes, flatware and pots and the pans were a joke. We managed to cook most of our simple dinners (like boxed mac 'n cheese, spaghetti, grilled cheese and tomato soup) and all of our breakfasts, but would have liked to have had an oven and better, more plentiful pots/pans.

The kids loved the rooftop pool, and the staff was very accommodating. The pool was leaking to the pool room below, but rather than drain it and close it, they kept pumping the water - which we really appreciated. It would have been much easier for them to drain it.

The location of this property is incredible! It is a block and a half from the Foggy Bottom metro station, two to three blocks from Safeway at the Watergate, and about five block from Trader Joe's. The neighborhood is so quiet, especially for such a large city. I don't remember hearing one siren from the hotel the whole week.

We relied completely on public transportation, which was so convenient, so I don't know about parking.

I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

“Just right for us - we can't wait to come back”

Doubletree Guest Suites Washington, DC

After a long day sightseeing around DC and being so tired you can't believe it, knowing we were coming back to such a roomy and comfortable hotel was a great thing to look forward to.
We stayed here because my sister-in-law recommended it and we were very happy. First of all, if you are a family of five, you know how cramped 1 hotel room can be, well the spaciousness of the suite was great, plenty of room for all and the full kitchen came in handy too. Really nice neutrogena products in the bathroom, the beds were super comfy with high qualtiy linens and pillows. The location is excellent for sightseeing and access to DC's excellent subway system. Also, the neighborhood is very safe at all hours of the night, so you never felt scared walking around there.
The front dest help was really nice and my girls loved the warm chocolate chip cookies when we arrived. We are coming back to the Doubletree Guest Suites the minute the American History Museum reopens. Hopefully sometime this year. Thanks DGS for making our Easter trip to DC really fun for us all!
