“Great Place, Friendly staff!”

Washington Suites Georgetown

5 of 5 stars
Hamilton,Michigan
Jul 31, 2008

My wife, two teenage sons and I stayed in the Washington Suites in July and had a wonderful time. We had a one bedroom suite with a pull out sofa. The room was quite large and we had plenty of room. It had a full kitchen, which when we booked we were planning to use, but we did cook at all. It was great to have the larger refrigerator though. They have a little get together every Tuesday and it was nice. They had pork barbeque sandwiches, potato salad, beer, wine and lemonade. Every one of the staff was very helpful and went out of there way to help. The location was great; we walked to Georgetown, Lincoln Memorial and from the National Archives and the Foggy Bottom Metro Station was a 7 minute walk. There are a few restaurants very close to the hotel and a small grocery store across the street. We drove our car to DC and they had a $30 a night charge for parking the car. It was actually park in the basement of the hotel where it was safe. We had them park it when we arrived and had them get it when we left. We really enjoyed our stay at the Washington Suites.

Friendly staff.
Great location - right down the street from all the shops in Georgetown and a real quick walk to the Metro stop (Foggy Bottom).
Very safe area.
Trader Joes right across the street.
The room was a great size- big living room, nice TVs. Kitchen cabinets were outdated but the microwave and dishwasher and full size fridge were new.
New carpet in the room.
Two queen size beds.
AWFUL OLD MATTRESSES. Being younger it didnt matter to me too much buy my parents had a hard time. I slept so well tho after walking around all of DC.
I would stay here again. Decent prices and awesome location.

“What Luck....!”

Washington Suites Georgetown

May 19, 2008

.....We had finding Washington Suites for a long weekend stay. Having stayed in New York "suite hotels" before - we were astonished at how far this exceeded our expectations. Reception was friendly and efficient, the rooms were large, clean, comfortable and well furnished, and the location is excellent for a tourist trip. The only thing we would have changed would be to ask for a room at the back - ours was 6th floor overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue and was a bit noisy.

“Excellent Hotel”

Washington Suites Georgetown

5 of 5 stars
England
May 6, 2008

Having travelled around America for the last three weeks, we were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. The people on the front desk were helpful esp Seck. The rooms are large and clean. Though the breakfast room was crowded, there was no problem going down, collecting what I would like and taking it up to eat in the comfort of my own room. Our room was on the second floor overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue and we did not have any problems with noise.

The hotel was in an ideal spot to walk either down into Georgetown to some lovely restaurants or for culture walk up Pennsylvania Ave and see the White House, Capitol Hill etc.

I would definitely recommend it to friends and if I was to visit Wahington again would book a room there.

“Not worth the money”

Washington Suites Georgetown

May 2, 2008

Things to know:
- It isn't in Georgetown (it's a few blocks away).
- It's REALLY noisy, the windows provide very little noise insulation. We had particular problems with street noise, and we were on the 9th floor.
-When you check-in, they ask you to initial a form agreeing to a $30/day parking charge. When I was thinking about it, the front desk person informed me that "there is nowhere else to park".
-Breakfast is in a crowded windowless room, it's not very good (some cereal, some pastries and toast, a little fruit and yogurt, juice, and ATROCIOUS coffee), and there are large pillars causing traffic jams. We skipped it.
-Apparently there is no automatic check-out, which is ok, unless there is a group tour trying to check out in front of you, in which case it would be nice to have the convenience of not waiting in line for 30 minutes to let them know that there are no changes to your bill.

Despite large rooms and large kitchens, and its proximity to Trader Joe's (which is great), it costs a lot for what it is. Our $238/night room was over $300/night with parking and tax. You can do a lot better for $300/night, even in Washington. The hotel should skip the free cookies and manager's reception, and use the money to upgrade the windows instead.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Near Trader Joe's
    • Disliked — Overpriced for what it offers. Noisy. Unappetizing breakfast. Climate control and elevator issues (closed on kids).
