My family and i stayed at the Melrose for 3 nights, our stay was excellent not a problem. Our room was very clean we had the Superior which comes with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker seperate from the rest of the room which is great since we traveled with kids. Very close to the metro and all other forms of public transportation. No need to rent a car parking is expensive. The Melrose is within less than a 5 minute walk to Georgetown, lots of shops and restaurants. The staff at the Melrose were very friendly and very helpful. This hotel is just as good as any other 5 star hotel.Service for me and my family are always top and the Melrose does just that.
Our second day we did the open top sightseeing bus, you buy a 2 day pass and that allows you to get on and off at any of there stops. The bottom of the bus is air comditioned so this is perfect for those traveling with small children. If you can't get back to the bus before they stop running no worries hop on the metro back to the hotel we did.You can either buy your tickets online or pay for them on the bus they take credit cards.

This is a must do.The stop is in front of the Four Seasons Hotel about a 5-7 minute walk from the MELROSE if that much.
We also did the trolley tour at night they start at 7pm which it is still very bright outside. The tour itself is good but our experience with the company was NOT. ROYAL TOURS by this i mean that the weather was so hot that taking the trolley was not an option so they used a bus instead which would of been fine had the bus not been outdated and the AC not working well. At everystop you have a certain time to be back on the bus to me we just felt rushed, by the time you exit and walk to the sight to take a picture it's time to go back.So a word to the wise if you can't use the trolley before you book use GRAYLINE INSTEAD.
Refunds are not giving. Other than that everything was great.
Twice we ate at Uno's Chicago Grille on M street and Wisconsin Ave, the food was great but if you are really hungry not the place service is very slow.
We also ate at Furin's on M street for breakfast excellent food, they are across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel.
Also try Marshall's restaurant around the corner from the Melrose the food was very good, but eat downstairs if you have children with you upstairs is a bar.
