“Great for families and larger groups”

Embassy Suites Washington-Convention Center

Jul 7, 2008

Stayed here for a night with my kids and my sister when we went for a short trip to DC. The hotel was very nice. The rate we chose included the breakfast buffet for all members of our party. The buffet was stocked with lots of great food.

The lobby includes a concierge station and a few computers for guest use. It was a popular item, so there was a short wait to use one.

On the evening we were there, there was a managers reception. It included free snacks and drinks (both alchoholic and non-alcoholic).

Room service was expensive as always and the food wasn't that great.

There is an heated indoor pool that the kids enjoyed.

The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. I didn't have a view of anything.

All in all, the hotel stay was average. I would say the hotel was average. Nothing extra special with the exception of the breakfast buffet.

“very nice hotel”

Embassy Suites Washington-Convention Center

Jul 3, 2008

Just returned from a very educational trip to Washington D.C. We took our two grandchildren, ages 11, and also our daughters. We had two separate rooms and they were both very nice. It is nicely located, within walking distance to the metro station, also to Chinatown. By the way, when you go to Chinatown, please stop at the wonderful restaurant called Clyde's. Food and service were excellent. The added extras of the manager's reception in the evening and the wonderful breakfast in the morning was a really big help and very convenient. The kids loved the atmosphere where they could order their own kiddie cocktails at the evening reception. They felt very welcome with a nice casual and friendly atmosphere. The whole experience was great.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was excellent. The only slight complaint was the size of their pool. It is very, very small, but we weren't there to swim.

“Perfect for our family”

Embassy Suites Washington-Convention Center

We stayed at the Embassy Suites the first weekend of June. It was incredibly hot this week! The hotel lobby has a cooler with ice cold water that you can grab a glass of water from. It was very refreshing after a long day of sight seeing!

Our family includes myself, husband and three children (ages 7, 6 and 3). This hotel was perfect for us. The rooms are spacious and clean. The living room was big enough for our children to unwind and play. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast buffet was very good and we never had to wait. The area felt very safe and we felt comfortable walking day or night.

Some things I would do differently: Room service is slow. We ordered snacks late in the evening and it took about 1 1/2 hours to arrive. The hotel is not as convenient to the sights as I had imagined, but it was still close.

This a great hotel and we would definitely stay here again!

“Perfect for Families”

My wife and I stayed at the Embassy Suites Convention Center April 3-7. If you can tolerate poorly-behaved children and can put up with not smoking, this place is ideal.

1) The staff was universally well-presented, professional, and cordial. Leanne should be on magazine covers.

2) The place is kept spotlessly clean.

3) The rooms are very quiet once you get past the thundering hoards of kids echoing from the lobby through the atrium.

4) The place was a bargain with an internet rate of $170.

5) The location is terrific.

6) We hit a few speed bumps (smoking room not available, one morning breakfast line at least 100 people long) but the staff and Mr. Del Russo handled things graciously.

It's easy to see why this property is the success it is.

One tip: As you enter the restaurant for breakfast, the long line on the left will be for cooked-to-order omelettes. Go past that line and beyond the grill area to the left where there is a complete breakfast buffet. So give up the omelette and have scrambled eggs, save time, and not have to stand in line with those-who-have-fallen-off-the-turnip-truck and their offspring.

“Great stay at Embassy”

Embassy Suites Washington-Convention Center

4 of 5 stars

Just returned from 3 nights at Embassy Suites Convention Center with my two teenage daughters and myself. It was our first visit to DC.

We checked in early and were given a room on the 15th floor right near the elevator. We had a view only of the building next to us. We never encountered a problem with noise. We had a king suite and my younger daughter slept on the pull-out sofa. It was so nice to be able to spread out in two rooms.

We used the mini-fridge daily to keep our water bottles and fruit cold.

The breakfast was great. It included made-to-order omelets and eggs(had to wait in a bit of a line), ready-made scrambled eggs(the girls did not like them), sausage, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, bagels, muffins, toast, yogurt, cereal, fresh cut and whole fruit, variety of juices, coffee, and tea.
Complimentary cocktails and snacks(chips, cheese and crackers) were served from 5:30-7:30PM. It was crowded but not more than I expected.

The hotel was in a good location(1-2 blocks to Metro Center) and within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants. Concierge was always polite and helpful.

My only weak complaint was that the pool was very small and so cloudy that the girls would not use it. I did not either.
We checked out the work-out room which I planned on using, and it looked like there was plenty of equipment. Never actually used it because I was so exhaused from walking all day!

Overall, I would definetly recommend this hotel, especially for families.
