“Great Mickey Mouse Pancakes”

Ayres Hotel Anaheim

5 of 5 stars
Monmouth, IL
Jun 15, 2008

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Ayres Hotel for two nights in June. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the parking garage at Disneyland (it takes about 45 minutes to drive, park and take the tram to the ticket booth). The pool was warm, the room was big (with a microwave and refrigerator), and the chef made pancakes that looked like Mickey Mouse for my kids. I forgot my eyeglasses, but they were promptly shipped to me at no charge.
Great service!

“Amazing!”

I stayed here for a Ducks game, and I am glad that I did.
The room was huge, clean and had everything you could want, and was very roomy. The hotel is near train tracks, but the place must have triple soundproofing, I watched a train pass the hotel, and head muffled train horns and that was it!
Breakfast was truly out of this world, as was the happy hour. Cookies were great, and the breakfast had Eggs, and a rotation of other items, plus the usual staples.Nice things like salsa, cheese and jalapeños were also there for you to add to your eggs, and was awesome.
Staff was incredible, even helped us meet a few ducks players!!!
Apart from the location being away from some things like malls, the fact you can be in the arena, @ your seats in about 10 minutes by walking there, is truly awesome.
A jewel in my stay.

“Great Location for the Honda Center”

Ayres Hotel Anaheim

4 of 5 stars

I stayed at the Ayres Anaheim because we were going to an Anaheim Ducks game at the Honda Center and the Ayres is right across the street (literally took us 5 mins to get from our seats to the hotel room).

The hotel lives up to its good reviews on TripAdvisor. The decor, which I'd call psuedo-neoclassical French, was a bit odd for a hotel beside a couple of freeways and a hockey arena in Anaheim. But in spite of its oddness, the interior of the hotel was welcoming, clean and tidy. The blackout blinds were great as the room was very dark for a mid-afternoon nap blocking out the sun and the view of 57 freeway.

The location is central - 10 min drive to Disneyland (didn't go, but passed it a couple times), a 2 minute walk to the Honda Center, close to the Anaheim Angel's Stadium and also allows for easy access into downtown LA where we took in an LA Kings game at the Staples Center. The trip downtown took about 45 mins in light rush hour traffic (as opposed to extreme LA rush hour traffic where it could take much longer) and 30 mins on the way back late at night. The only thing I wished for was a drugstore or supermarket within walking distance to pick up some drinks and snacks. The staff, who were good generally, didn't really know where the closest drugstore was. For those who are interested - head east on E. Katella Ave just past N. Cambridge Street (about a 7 min drive). There could be a closer one but that is one we found.

Used the free internet available in the lobby to check-in for our flight which was nice. Also enjoyed the hearty hot breakfast and enjoyed the custom made pancakes/waffles.

Interestingly noise isn't really a factor - even situated beside a busy road, a freeway and the Honda Center we didn't notice outside noise.

I'd recommend staying at the Ayres if you want a solid hotel at a good price located centrally within Anaheim without paying a premium for a hotel location where you could walk to Disney. Also bonus points if you are going to a Honda Center event or an Angels game.

“Nice for the price”

Ayres Hotel Anaheim

4 of 5 stars
las vegas

The Good:

The decor is very nice and the hotel seemed very clean. The rooms are pretty large and include a sink, microwave and fridge. You also get high speed internet and a hot breakfast. Rooms are quiet, I never heard my neighbors nor any traffic outside. The bed was very, very comfortable. You also get a coffeemaker with some decent coffee. The staff (with the exception of the front desk people) were very friendly and concerned with me enjoying in my stay. The hotel is only a 5-10 minute drive to Disneyland and the shuttle also stops there. We got an early check in without any problems.

The Bad:
The front desk staff was very cold. Upon checking in, the girl seemed exasperated, like we were taking time out of her day. We were never greeted by the front desk entering or exiting the hotel. We asked someone at the front desk about the ART bus to Disneyland and she didn't know anything about it. She gave us a brochure and some false information and sent us on our way. The hot breakfast isn't very good. The bacon was so thin it shatters when you pick it up and everything served is low quality, but it's free. There's no Disney channel and whenever you turn on the TV it's programmed to Fox News and the volume is quite loud.

The bad things about the hotel shouldn't deter you from staying here. We liked it despite these setbacks and I included them only as forewarning. This hotel was very nice and close to the freeway. The bed was so nice I didn't even miss my bed at home. This was a good hotel and a fraction of the cost of staying at a Disneyland hotel.

“Highly recommend the Ayres, you'll love it!!!”

After searching hotels I went off the reviews of other travelers and this Hotel was the one that had the best reviews and they weren't lying. We were a total of 4 , including 2 kids. I was afraid that it was going to be like any other hotel were my children were going to wind up wanting to go back home but they loved it. As soon as you enter, the front desk clerk made me feel welcomed he immediately checked us in, he was also very nice to put is in a room so that we would be able to see the firwork show from Disneyland. The rooms are very roomy and extremely clean, housekeeping is done daily. Their beds are so comfy which was a big plus for us. The hotel is right off the freeway so we thought we were going to hear all the midnight traffic but as soon as you lay on them you won't wake up till the morning. Disneyland is about a 10 min drive and the entrance to freeways are right around the corner so you have easy access to just about anywere you want to go. Their breakfast services are amazing, eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes and much more. They also offer you complimentary evening snacks which we enjoyed. In all we were very satisfied with their full services, from now on this will be the only place my family and I will be staying at, it is well worth it(Keep of the wonderful services!!).
