“Sleepless nights”

The Siam City Hotel

2 of 5 stars
melbourne
Aug 7, 2008

My mother, auntie and I stayed at the Siam City Hotel on the 30th of July to the 2nd of August 2008. We had a Club Suite Room on the top floor. The people from the Club Desk, Housekeeping and Restaurant staff are all really nice and polite.
The room are a fair size for the three of us with room cleaned daily. We booked on the internet directly to the hotel reservation to stay 30 July to the 5th of Aug but have to shorten our stay as we were having problem sleeping. Bed bugs are biting us at night while we are in bed. Tossing and turning all night .We have spoken to the club manager and she cant do anything for us that is satisfactory. I was hoping that they would have a newer room or bed. Instead they charged us more per night of stay as we cancelled early. I thought that they could have done more for us. The hotel should address this problem soon. We stayed in another hotel for 3 nights with no bugs biting us. We had a wonderful night sleep.

Dear "Sleepless Nights"

I was shocked to read about your allegations of not being able to sleep because ‘you were bitten by bedbugs and as consequence, you and your family checked out prior to your departure date.’ Circumstances such as these are extremely troubling, and require our immediate attention. I have spoken with all staff concerned and wish to put the situation in order, so that we might resolve the issue.

•You had never mentioned the problem of bedbugs throughout your stay, even when you were within direct contact with the club manager and housekeeping every day.
•On August 2nd you requested to check-out early. The Club Manager explained to you that the very special rate you were given by booking the "Hot Deal", were void if you check-out early, meaning that you were required to pay a regular rate or loose the extra two nights. (Hot Deal = Best Rate, Prepaid, No change, No cancellation, No Refund - source Siam City Booking Website)
•Not until, after this, you mentioned for the first time to the manager that the bed is too old for you. We tried to find out the meaning of too old and you were given two options, either to remove one of the double bedding box mattresses or the possibility for housekeeping to make the bed firmer, both of which you refused straight away. In addition, another option was for you to change to another room, which you dismissed with comments ‘it is all the same.’ However, throughout the entire conversation on your bed, never once, did you mention anything about bedbugs.

Understandably, claims such as these towards our hotel and lack of our staff’s assistance are very upsetting, especially when you were offered different choices. Accusations that our beds have bedbugs, is extremely detrimental to our hotel and a concern. If this would be the case, I can guarantee you would not have stayed 3 nights.

I suggest that during your next hotel stay, in any location, if you feel that your needs and concerns have not been met with the necessary staff. You can request to speak directly with the hotels management. In these circumstances, we could, at the very least, look into the predicament, had we actually known about it in the first place, and not after the fact as you are now stating. Please let me assure you, all hoteliers wish their guests a memorable experience. We are sorry yours is not so.

Sawasdee and best regards,

Siam City Hotel Bangkok

“Outstandingly helpful and friendly staff.”

The Siam City Hotel

Jul 31, 2008

A bustling and busy hotel. Inspite of this, the staff seems to have been well versed in customer care. The services offered were without any delay and always seems effortless.
We enjoyed our stay and the facilities provided.

Hopefully my only criticism below , will be viewed as a positive effort as I would hate, having found a wonderful and reasonably priced hotel in Bangkok, only to find it is no more (as our experience with another hotel in Bangkok) when we visit again in the future.
Although I enjoyed the facilities of the health club, it would be very helpful if,
1. there are pictures attached to the gym equiptments showing how to use them and which parts of the body/muscles is being exercised instead of one universal card and one general warming up exercises poster.
2. The plumbing/ drainage of the only shower in the ladies changing room seems to be defective as the water is not draining as quickly as it should.
3. If at some stage the swimming pool is revamped (the peeling tiles at the bottom of the pool may cause guests injury), could the length be increased so that proper lapses is possible.

I thought the masseurs are wonderful
Thank you.
Mrs. Sepiah Owen

Thank you very much for having taken the time to give your feedback in this forum, as we are always pleased to receive guest’s remarks.

We have noted your observations for improvement in regards to the gym instructions, female changing room drainage and tiles in the swimming pool and they are addressed presently. Lengthening the pool will be another project.

On behalf of the Siam City Hotel, we thank you for drawing to our attention our successes and disappointments.

We would like to thank you for staying at our hotel and we hope you will continue to use Siam City Hotel in the future.

Sawasdee and best regards,

“Loved it!”

The Siam City Hotel

Jul 10, 2008

The hotel is magnificent and had such incredible service. At breakfast, there was a lovely continental spread. The room was nice and spotless and so were the bathrooms. Not a very huge room but quite comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helped us readily. Overall I would say this is probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in on holiday.

This hotel is far overpriced. Taxes, breakfast and internet are not included in the roomrate. Room was not cleaned properly. In the morning there was no water from the tap. I was overcharged for the internet use. the charge for sending a fax was outragious: eur 30,- for 10 pages!
I will never stay here again!
if you want a better hotel at a better price go to the Marriott or Sheraton.

Clean hotel, friendly staff, value for money. Spent 5 nights. Rooms smallish but functional, clean and well stocked. Location fair - 100yds to sky-train and then 2 tops to city cente (Siam Centre & MBK Mall)
Staff exceptional. Breakfast - large variety and good quality.
Enjoyed our stay and will stay again
