My husband and I spent four days in Phuket during our honeymoon, and our day spend sailing with Captain Gordon was definitely the highlight. From my initial correspondence with Gordon, he was very prompt in responding, easy to coordinate with, and he had very reasonable prices.

The 42 foot yacht (I have never been on one before) was very nice, and our hostess (Yu-en?) welcomed us aboard with cold drinks and fruit. From there we had a fantastic sail around some of the most beautiful small islands drinking cold beer and listening to Gordon's tales of sailing around the world (he lived on his boat for five years!)

Captain Gordon let my husband help with the sailing, but I laid out on the deck most of the time. We sailed to a deserted island (literally), and my husband and I snorkeled and kayaked (Gordon had all of the gear on the boat). We then ate a fantastic Thai lunch on the boat and eventually sailed back to the port.

This is truly a great thing to do in Phuket, and Captain Gordon is quite fun and very friendly! Best of all, he really tries to show his clients special places that aren't crowded and touristy. I couldn't get my pictures to upload just now, but trust me, the scenery is amazing. We plan on taking Gordon's river tour next time we are in Phuket--it also sounded very cool.

I had never been on a yacht before, or a sailing boat. It was to be my first sail, and River Rovers has given the best possible sailing experience one could ever hope for. (and of course the fine weather helped!)

Captain Gordon was very prompt in answering all my queries through email, as compared to a few other companies I emailed. Although there was just the two of us, he was more than happy to take his yacht out at the price of a join-in cruise. So we ended up having a chartered yacht at an unbelievable price.

It was a very enjoyable sailing experience. Gordon and Yuen (hope I spelt her name correctly) were very warm and friendly and we almost felt at home in the middle of the wide open sea.

Gordon was very complying to give us a great sunset view aboard his yacht and did not mind the extra hour spent. We managed to have a good view of the stars in the sky too.

The very next day, we took a day tour to Phi Phi islands via a speedboat. And now that I've known how it feels like to hear only the waves and the wind right in the middle of the sea, I don't really enjoy speed boat rides anymore.

Thanks to River Rovers for giving us such a great 1st time experience and I highly doubt I would have another sail that surpasses this.

River Rovers gave me my life back. I was so jaded that I never thought that I could ever enjoy anything anymore. On our trip, we interacted with wildlife, such as Macaques monkeys, and also visited fish farms, studied various birdlife, went kayaking, swimming and generally had a good time.
Most importantly, we were away from the rat race and could relax in comfort, completely unstressed. Captain Gordon knows this area like the back of his hand, and adjusts the route according to weather conditions.
The time I spent with Captain Gordon and Khoon Yeauan was a revelation. I now have a new lease on life and will recommend River Rovers boat tours to all my friends.

My best friend and I just returned from an amazing trip to Thailand. We only had one full day in Phuket and we wanted to spend the day on a sailboat. We contacted another tour company we found on Trip Advisor but he was already booked so he reccomended River Rovers. I am so glad he did! We spent the day sailing and snorkeling with Captain Gordon and Yoon (she cooked us an amazing lunch). The best part of the day was anchoring just off Freedom Beach and swimming onto shore where there is a tiny little bar and a couple lounge chairs. There were only about five other tourists there. Beers were as cheap as can be and the scenary was incredible. We felt like we had just experienced Phuket's best kept secret! .

If you are looking for a day trip (or longer) leaving from Phuket, want to stay away from touristy spots and eat amazing food then organize a trip with Gordon Williams from River Rovers. You won't regret it!
