Gordon is a very nice and friendly guy. He went the extra mile for us on our trip, and we enjoyed a relaxing day out at sea. Two thumbs up from me!

We were lucky enough to meet up with a couple from the States while we were staying at our hotel and during our conversations we found out that the four of us wanted to spend a day on the water but didn’t want to do the fast paced touristy thing.

Our new friends suggested that we all try River Rovers and we are so glad we did. The day was spent just cruising on the water spotting birdlife and visiting locals on a fish farm. We then slowly made our way down a river until we came to a place where the monkeys jumped onboard to be handfed. Lunch for us on this day was at a local restaurant on the river but normally Captain Gordon provides a feast onboard.

Gordon was excellent. It was just the five of us puttering from one beach to the other, swimming, snorkelling or having a paddle on the surfski. We didn’t run into another tourist for practically the entire day. Gordon was very keen for us to have a great time and was very flexible. We never felt rushed or on a time limit. It was one of the best days on the water that we have ever had.

I would whole heartedly recommend for anyone who wants to see plenty but not do the touristy thing to jump on board with River Rovers and let Gordon take care of you.

We wanted to spend the day on a boat without it being touristy. Specifically, we did not want to be crammed on a tourist boat with 30 other people and their cameras...

We were thrilled with River Rovers. We called Gordon & arranged an outing with one other couple we met at our hotel (a total of 4 people)! He can accommodate from 4-10 people.

Gordon (the owner) is from South Africa and spent years sailing from Capetown to Phuket, so we were obviously in good hands!

Chalong Bay isn't choppy & Gordon's pace is very slow & relaxing. We docked the boat in the middle of the bay at an authentic fish farm where they never see tourists. We got off the boat to step on the rikety floating farm - lobsters & other exotic fish. A true Thai experience.

We had lunch off the side of the bay at a local Thai restaurant. We ate in a little "sala" and had delicious fish & rice.

Gordon took us to a deserted beach to go swimming & relax.

If you're looking for a non-touristy, relaxing day on the water.... River Rovers is for you.

My husband and I spent four days in Phuket during our honeymoon, and our day spend sailing with Captain Gordon was definitely the highlight. From my initial correspondence with Gordon, he was very prompt in responding, easy to coordinate with, and he had very reasonable prices.

The 42 foot yacht (I have never been on one before) was very nice, and our hostess (Yu-en?) welcomed us aboard with cold drinks and fruit. From there we had a fantastic sail around some of the most beautiful small islands drinking cold beer and listening to Gordon's tales of sailing around the world (he lived on his boat for five years!)

Captain Gordon let my husband help with the sailing, but I laid out on the deck most of the time. We sailed to a deserted island (literally), and my husband and I snorkeled and kayaked (Gordon had all of the gear on the boat). We then ate a fantastic Thai lunch on the boat and eventually sailed back to the port.

This is truly a great thing to do in Phuket, and Captain Gordon is quite fun and very friendly! Best of all, he really tries to show his clients special places that aren't crowded and touristy. I couldn't get my pictures to upload just now, but trust me, the scenery is amazing. We plan on taking Gordon's river tour next time we are in Phuket--it also sounded very cool.
