“what a great location - what a great hotel!!”

firstly i dont think this a good hotel for your first trip to BA as it is a fair distance (1/2 hour taxi ride) from downtown situated on the edge of Palermo (but hotel don telmo is a great choice if you want to stay downtown).

we stayed here for three nights, and arrived at 11pm, first of all we were a bit put off by the fact that the street right outside the front door was full of people dining and drinking, the first room we got offered was right above this noise, so we asked for and got changed to a quieter room.

apart from this initial complaint, everything else about the hotel was perfect.

Room - good shower, nice bathroom, good tv, big comfy bed.
Breakfast - excellent, eggs cooked to order, nice selection of fruit, and cold meats and cheese, plus loads of nice pastries.
Staff - really friendly and helpful, all spoke english which was great for us, and they put up with our terrible spanish!
Location - just great for eating out, drinking and partying, great restaurants literlly 20 metres from the front door, plus loads of other options near by. there is free internet access in the lobby, but no wifi in the rooms

As advertised this hotel is right where you want to be; it is actually right between a bar and a restaurant. While it's located in a loud area surrounded by bars and restaurants, it was still quiet enough inside to sleep very well.
A very cute hotel that I'd enthusiastically recommend for all.

“Trendy and Attentive”

I stayed at this hotel with my mother in the Fall of 2006. I was studying abroad in Argentina at the time and happened to live in the neighborhood, so this was close to my homestay. I had no idea how much we would love the hotel! It's a little on the small side, but it was a perfect fit for us. The bathrooms had a spa-like atmosphere to them. And the rooms were nicely appointed. We stayed for a week and were able to converse with the owner numerous times. He told us about the history of the hotel, that it used to be his grandmother's (or another relative's) house before converting it. The staff was nothing but attentive and pleasant.

Also, the area is fantastic. Notwithstanding the fact that I'm a little biased from having lived in the neighborhood, I can honestly say that the hotel is in a great area for restaurants and nightlife. In a two block radius there are more than 10 or 15 restaurants/bars that are fantastic. We ate at one of the restaurants three times that week. Although the "more" historic/touristy areas are a taxi ride away (it doesn't cost more then $10 to get there and if you're adventurous the bus system can get you *anywhere*), the area is so pleasantly Argentine that I can't imagine needing to leave. Strolling the streets of this neighborhood, or taking in a polo game in the nearby pitch, are fantastic ways to experience Buenos Aires. Much more than being taken in by some of the tourist traps in San Telmo.

I can't recommend this hotel more. It really made my mother's and my stay truly incredible and unforgettable.

Located in one of the most trendy areas of Buenos Aires, you'll be spoiled by restaurant and bar options.
Breakfast in the garden was really good, specially the scrambled eggs. We stayed for a couple of nights and the service was excellent. Be aware that the rooms are on the small size.
Would go back there, specially because of the area, but would book a bigger room than a Double Superior.

We apparently were hitting BsAs at a very popular time and were closed out at the hotels we had originally selected. We did some further searches and decided to book. Our experience was delightful and pleasing. The rooms are on the small side but bestowed the feeling one gets when appreciating the redesign and modernization of an old building done tastefully....leaving those attributes most pleasing and charming. The entire building, 3 stories...although no elevator..was beautifully designed anew and finished with finest of workmanship. Service was excellent..breakfast a treat, nicely done in a dedicated area, fresh choices complete with cappucino done correctly for the first time for us on this trip. There was enough room for all the necessities....intimate outside patio, hot tub, 2 internet high speed computers and secure storage for luggage after checkout if you decided to linger awhile. I must mention a terrific restaurant about a block away...Los Cholas. Do not miss it. No credit cards, always a hint of a good place and not a recognizable tourist in sight. Tables also set up on the sidewalk when things got busy...
Location of the hotel, on Palermo's fringe, was not a deterrent...we even walked back from Malba Museo.but the weather was nice and we like a hike. The subway is a short walk and allows access to anywhere you want to go....we did use it the second day to see the parts we missed including a drink at Cafe Tortoni, Evita's tomb and the usual sites in the city....
Most interesting was the Argentine training tall ship Libertard which was dockside and it seemed to me in disrepair. It has been sold and there is talk of using it as a museum. I remember it well from the 1976 TallShips Review in NYC harbour in all its splendor surrounded by the classics from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland , France,Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Portugal, Spain and many others...all led by our own Eagle.
There was plenty to see and its always nice when you take pride in where you chose to stay.
Cheers to Pablo and his fine staff and their alluring 248 Finisterre.
