I stayed here for a week in September 2007 while on business (giving talks, visiting schools). The hotel was chosen and booked for me.
The hotel is small and recently opened with the rooms of the original house refurbished to a high standard - if you like modern style dark wood and smoked glass, ceramic and chrome (I do), then you'll love it.
The area is quiet and elegant, meaning you get little or no noise in your room but you're a good way away from the centre of town (not walking distance at all). Staff have very good English and are highly attentive and personable - first name terms almost immediately, and nothing was too much trouble. Ringing the bell to be allowed in when you get back makes this a different hotel experience, but it didn't trouble me in the least.
Big plus points: quiet, nicely fitted rooms, great staff, excellent breakfast, free wifi connection, and gorgeously quiet!
Minus points: no minibar in room (I do like to grab a cold beer when getting back from a day's work). Plus there is no lift to rooms, so elderly people might find it tricky.
So if you're going to Buenos Aires for 2 days to experience the highlights - this isn't the place to be, I think. But if you're going to relax or to work (outside the downtown), it's a very nice place to stay.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant. Personally I like to eat out so no big deal. There are good places to eat within 10 minutes walking distance - the pick of the bunch has to be '1816', on the corner of 11 September, just brilliant food and service and astonishingly cheap if you go for the 'order what you want for a fixed price' deal - highly recommended, hotel staff will tell you how to get there.
