“Mixed exeriences for four”

Lavender Hills sits right off a main road and is not much to look at from the outside. However behind and between the buildings there are beautiful, serene gardens to greet guests. The insides of the main building and bathhouses reflex that same tranquility. The setting was quite nice despite what others have written here. It is the experiences that happened inside that this writer feels is important. There were two couples in our party. We split 50/50 on the experience. First each couple went to soak in pre-selected aromatic salts. All of us agreed 30 minutes was too long to sit in a hot tub no matter how nice it smells. If you're a bath person, you may want to bring a book or something to do. It is too loud to talk when the jets on. Three of us had hour messages and one had a salt rub, 30 minute moisturizing facial & 30 minute moisturizing message. The former salt/facial/message member of our entourage was the most satisfied. Although the experience was not very smoothly run, he said his skin felt great. Out of the three left only one loved their message. She said the masseuse (a male) touched all the right places perfectly. Her partner was less impressed with his female masseuse. His opinion was "it was okay". I was the least satisfied. I get messages regularly and this was the strangest I've ever encountered. It was far from relaxing. Never have I been so sore. It still hurts between my shoulders when I breath in too deeply. In short, no one was impressed with the baths themselves (the rooms were nice). Two out of four were happy with their treatment, one was neutral and one (I) hated it.

“Terrible location, poor management! Don't go!”

Do not go to this spa! I was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon after driving 2 hours to get there. It is quaint and clean. However, it is poorly managed, is located right next to the highway and the rooms are too small. My experience was horrible. The 50 min. salt glow was more like 40 min. bubble bath and 10 min. salt scrub; the lady left me some salt scrub and said I could rub some on my belly if I wanted. She was very unprofessional - she forgot my robe, and then my slippers and accidently dropped my shirt into the tub, which probably wouldn't have happened if there was a decent place to hang my clothes. Then I had to walk across the "garden" in my (ultra thin white) robe with passing traffic and through the lobby with waiting men and women for my massage. The room I was put in was right next to the highway and there was a fly buzzing around my ear and face for the entire massage. Although I requested another room or that she swat the fly, she insisted that I focus on the massage and the music. I left more tense and stressed when I left than when I came in. What a waste!!!

“Thoroughly enjoyed romantic couples bath, wrap and hot stone massage!”

My husband, two friends and I visited Lavender Hill Spa on New Years Day, 2007. It was a perfect way to bring in the New Year, and we felt lucky they were open.

My husband and I started with a couple’s bath in a little cottage in the back. It was a cottage completely private for the two of us, with lovely aromatherapy, and mellow music and candles. It was a wonderful romantic experience for 30 minutes, as we lay back and held hands between the tubs. The treatment also included a facial masque to wear while soaking.

Our next step was to dry off and walk upstairs, still in the same cottage, and lay next to one another for an herbal wrap for an additional 30 minutes. We were unbelievably relaxed by now.

We donned robes (being a large woman I brought my own but the spa has wonderful robes) and walked outside back to the main house on the road (Hwy 29). Most, if not all, of the massage therapy rooms are located in this main house. My room was in the back away from the road and the only sounds I ever heard – which was rare – was someone in the lobby area. For the most part I was in total relaxation and heard nothing but the music in the room.

I had my first hot stone massage and I am truly converted. If you think this massage is just about laying some stones on you, think again. It is a deep hot massage given by the pressure of the hot flat stones being rubbed into your muscles. There are about 100 stones, all heated in water and placed everywhere, including between your toes! The first moment my massage therapist pushed the hot stone into my calf muscle I was a goner! What a perfect massage. So relaxing and calming and the heat from the stones just put you to sleep. I think this will be my new favorite massage wherever I go, but this particular therapist was really extraordinary.

My husband had a Swedish massage that he enjoyed, but he and our friend had rooms in the front of the house and they did indeed experience disruptions of noise from the road outside. Especially when a motorcycle peeled out. But they enjoyed their massages despite that.

I personally cannot wait to return. The romantic baths and wraps and hot stone massage was all just what I wanted. And the crisp cucumber water afterwards was fantastic!

“Pampered and More!!”

My huband and I booked a massage, facial, and bath combo for our 5th anniversary. It exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were in heaven!!

The staff/reception is outstanding!! We were offered water or tea and since we arrived 30 min. early, we had time to relax.

The spa is set into cottages and we enjoyed our bath together in a candlelight cottage that was extremely romantic. My husband went for the hot stone massage and I had the regular along with our facials. It was all fantastic!! We regularly get treatments at home and this took the cake!! The technicians were professional, kind, and extremely welcoming.

We can not wait to return for another moment of heavenly relaxation. We thank the Lavender Hill Spa for starting our anniversary off right!!

“Quiet spot for couples”

I treated my BF to a bath/massage combo as a bribe for joining me on a business trip. We arrived the requested 15 minutes early and the guy at the front desk brought out a number of porcelain jars to explain the different types of baths - after smelling each of the jars we both settled on the Volcanic Mud Bath for not only the therapeutic and detoxifying qualities but for the lavender oil sprinkled on top.
I had requested (for a mere $45) the Couples Treatment which added aromatherapy oil to the 60-minute massage (as well as to-go bath products, chocolates and sliced fruit during the bath and a keepsake bath picture of the two of us covered in bubbles). After smelling all of the aromatherapy oils, the BF chose his favorite, Lavender, and I chose the holiday special scent of Vanilla.
Adriana then took us into a separate cottage and led us through what to expect the next 60 minutes or so. After she left we disrobed and tucked our clothes into a hangar/bag thingie and jumped in our tubs. They smelled lovely but I will admit I had to move around the little (volcanic?) pebbles on the bottom of the tub as they were irritating my hiney. The tub bottom was soft and cushiony, not like your tub at home - very comfy! We drank the entire picture of lemon water and had fun feeding eachother nibbles of fruit and chocolate. A full adjoining bath was in our cottage as well. Adriana softly knocked and popped in occassionally to check on water temps and to replace the cold washcloths on the side of the tub. After the half hour soak we got onto massage tables and laid under the cotton sheets to cool down. She rubbed our feet (coulda used a little more pressure but no biggie); after we got into our robes she led us to our massages.
The BF had some chickie whose name completely evades me, he did enjoy his massage though. Jacob did my massage and he was awesome! This was only my second massage, the first I tried to forget for a number of reasons. Jacob did a great job, some serious pressure (I told him to go for firm) and turned me into a relaxed pile of jelly in no time. My arms kept flopping off the table I was so relaxed! I seriously did not want to leave. But alas our 60 minutes was up...
As I stumbled out into the lobby my BF and little bag of spa goodies (and the bubbles picture) were waiting for me. Our two hours of bliss, including tips, came to about $350.
Ask for Jacob!!
