Stayed at the Microtel in Ceres for a family event. As part of a group we got a rate of $83/night. Called ahead to confirm that they accepted small pets. Easy to find, check in was smooth (despite "Pets not allowed" sign.
Assigned to a third floor room overlooking front lot. Two queen size beds with great linens. Firm and very comfortable. Small windowseat, large closet, desk, chair, mini-fridge, microwave, plenty of drawer space, large tv, alarm clock.
Bathroom was large, decent products, plenty of counterspace, built-in hair dryer. All looked new and tidy.
I'm a connoisseur of free hotel breakfast - this one earns a solid A. Much more than the advertised continental - muffins, juices (apple and orange), danish, coffee, tea, three cold cereals, bagels, toast, cream cheese, jam, and make-your-own mini waffles. No need to head to nearby restaurants.
Small bistro tables and chairs in the lobby area worked well. Lobby also has 2 comfortable sitting areas - one with television.
The Microtel is located on the freeway frontage road (Herndon) between Hatch and Whitmore exits. While convenient, there is a loud din from freeway traffic and trains on the other side of the freeway all night long. If you're a light sleeper ask for a room on the back side.
Other drawbacks:
Some of the rooms on our floor were for smokers - pungent stale aroma permeated the hallway.
This has to be the tiniest hotel gym in the world - one treadmill, one universal machine. Not even a bike. I would have preferred a pass to the gym down the road.
Side doors should open with room key later than 9 pm.
Other positives:
Very friendly desk staff.
Free wireless access throughout the property.
Small desk with computer and printer on first floor next to ice machine. Great for printing out last minute directions, etc.
