I stayed at this hotel in January, but this time a one-block walk revealed new opportunities for me (and you) for convenient transportation if you don't have a car.
Check-in was very smooth through the courteous registration staff, even at 11:00 am. My king-sized bed room was spacious and accommodating.
If you're a Starwood member, the water in your room ($5 each bottle) is complimentary, at least at this location. If you don't want to join, a Rite Aid is just across the street with water under $1 for each giant bottle and plenty of goodies for snacking.
My only problem in the room was that the heat did not work. Be sure that your night clothes are not thin, as the blanket and other linens on the bed may not be enough to warm you.
The hotel is attached to a mall with Macy's, a U.S. Post Office, and other shops, including upscale and fast food eateries. As a guest, you are provided with complimentary passes to Bally's for fitness, in the mall across from the hotel.
One block over, on South Flower Street, there's a Quiznos and plenty of transportation by bus and train (Metro) to travel to different parts of Los Angeles. A Subway sandwich shop and IHOP are also close.
If you have a car, self parking is available at the hotel for $26.
I enjoyed my stay and put this hotel on my "will visit again" list. It's a downtown location, so don't expect to see the Pacific Ocean or be surrounded by a relaxed, casual environment.
